Tuesday Falling by S Williams, Silent Scream by Angie Marsons, the Blissfully Dead by Edwards/Voss, Wrong Place by Mel Comley, someone else’s skin by Sarah Hilary
Enjoyed @Ava‘s Untouchable. Haven’t had chance to read much more this year, but OH massively enjoyed Stuart Neville’s Those we Left Behind & Elizabeth Haynes’ Into the Darkest Corner.
I’m not going to pick one in case an author I forgot has me killed by a serial killer who cooks and eats me in their next book. All the crime books I read this year were the best ones.
I feel bad for not mentioning some. Yesterday I recommended Ava’s book (Untouchable) via a Twitter chat. Today I suggested Tenacity…there are so many more too. It is great that there are so many fantastic books to choose from.
I was going to add Black Wood by SJI Holliday, I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh and How I Lost You by Jenny Blackhurst, though I think I read Clare’s last year so I might be cheating.
That’s a hard one to say. The Blissfully Dead has to be close to the best I have read by Louise Voss and Mark Edwards. Marnie riches book the girl who broke the rules also top of the line. I also love stranger child by Rachel Abbott
I’ve loved both of @Angie‘ books! @Caroline too with Time to Die (her true story book Paranomal Intruder is a must read), I love Chris Mosby’s crime books and Jane Casey – After The Fire was great. Do connect with me on Goodreads and scan my crime shelf and 5 star reads shelf. https://www.goodreads.com/BookloverCatlady
Out of 70 reads in 2015 so far, the best would be a choice between TRUST NO ONE by Paul Cleave, THE HUNTER’S PRAYER by Kevin Wignall, and BEYOND THE RAGE by @Michael… with some others very close behind (John Connolly etc)
Thanks for the mention, @Graham and @Craig. You just cheered me up no end. Faves for me – Sarah Pinborough THE DEATH HOUSE, Don Winslow, THE CARTEL and @Douglas‘s DEVIL’S KNOCK
Thanks, Michael! There are so many books I’ve enjoyed I wouldn’t know where to begin. But I also liked Beyond the Rage, Peter May’s Runaway, Neil Broadfoot’s The Storm, Matt Bendoris’s DM for Murder, Caro Ramsay’s Absolution (an old title but I finally caught up with it), Benjamin Black’s The Black-Eyed Blonde, There are more, though.
Little bit of mutual Scottish crime fiction love there! I really liked Blood Salt Water by Denise Mina, but The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson is probably my favourite of the year. Best debut – The Dark Inside by Rod Reynolds. And Matt’s DM For Murder was v original and witty – a great read. I must read more Scottish authors – I have them all. Douglas, I promised you ages ago I’d be in touch about doing a feature – which of yours would you recommend I start with? (And I’m saving The Cartel for long winter evenings – ditto Orient by Christopher Bollen.)
@Bert I read this book over the last weekend, Set in Glasgow gritty and full of action, along with some humour, Who would call the hero Gus Thoroughgood may I ask? however a highly recommended read.
