The movie was fine, in itself but it was nothing really like the books in my opinion

Finished reading salem falls by Jodi picoult and went to YouTube to find some book reviews and found a copy of the film. THEY DIDNT EVEN GET THE MAIN CHARACTERS NAME RIGHT!!!!!

DaVinci Code, Angels And Demons, Inferno movies just beyond terrible

KayteeQuestion author

I haven’t read the books yet but plan to. I have seen the films and really enjoyed them though I’m sure they are missing a lot of the book.

0
Cassiek

I thought DaVinci Code was a good adaptation of the book, what didn’t you like about it?

0
Donna

@Cassiek basically everything, it never started like the book did so it was downhill from there for me

0
Cassiek

I loved the book but really thought the movie was good too. But I can understand how you might be disapponted. Sometimes we just have different expectations for the movie. I guess I was happy with Tom Hanks in the role and the fact that the major plot lines were covered. Its very hard to make a movie from a book that has so many details.

1

I think the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was a great movie also, they did a good job with it.

1
Sharon

I loved Phillip pullmans trilogy northern lights, but the movie the golden compass wasn’t well received. It’s a shame as the next 2 books could have been made into amazing movies.

Going back a bit but Stephen kings misery was ruined by the film. Would have been a good film on its own but nothing like the book.

I have found that when it comes to Stephen King, they either are awesome ( Shawshank or Stand By Me) or they suck (Christine and Pet Cemetery)

I really don’t think there are a lot of films that are better thank the books as they have so much more info etc. I personally build up the characters in my mind then feel disappointed when the film comes out as they are nothing like the description in the book

1
Reply
Jacqui

And some things are completely missed out or changed beyond all recognition. You can’t fit a full book into an hour and a half.

1
Jacqui

Imo. Books are always better.

A Series of Unfortunate Events (movie) – worst adaptation

Now the TV show is pretty good.

Funny enough I thought it was the other way around

The series was a bit of a let down for my partner and I

Agee’s garbage! I didn’t like any of the movies.

0

I love the movies but that one… I will never forgive the producers for how bad they messed that up

1
Marissa

It was the worst one out of the series. I don’t know why’d they do it like that

1
Jessica

And ironically, the best book in my opinion

1
Kelli

Ooh, I would have to agree there, Goblet of Fire was my favorite book of the series.

Book Thief – Thought the movie was great but the book was poorly written.

I’m glad! No one I know has read it! I tried and got to chapter 5 after forcing myself to. I just couldn’t and put it down!

0
Jill

Have to agree with that one! The movie was a delight and while I liked the book, I really did struggle with it at times

1
Nicole

@Jill Were you able to finish it? I tried so hard! I usually can get through a tough book, but I think because this was SO much different, I just couldn’t!

3
KayteeQuestion author

i struggled with the books. I just couldn’t relate to the characters or understand the decisions and though process so the movies were better but they weren’t good movies. And yes I gave them my full 100% effort. Best friends loved them so I tried. Just wasn’t for me ?

1
Marissa

I thought they both were terrible but they are a guilty pleasure. I’ve read the series multiple times and the books are better, but the writing is bad. I also watch the movies once in awhile ?

2
Marta

@Katey you can’t unseen them lol

1
Marta

@Kaytee i read them years ago in my teens when they first came out and nobody had heard of them ?

0

Bourne Identity – Movie was so different from the book, why did they have to change it so much? I enjoyed both but I am mad at the producers/writer of the movie because they made it a completely different plot.

1

when I haven’t read the books I usually love the movies. kind of like Jack reacher. but if I read the book then watch the movie and it doesn’t go along at all i can’t get into it at all

0
Brittany

@Sierra i liked jack reacher too.. just like you, another book i havent read lol

A wrinkle in time! I was so excited for it because I loved the actors they chose to play for the characters!! But I strongly disliked the movie!!!!!

2

Jack Reacher .. Tom Cruise?!! Just NO! ?

3

Yeah, I’m with you on this one. I love the Jack Reacher books. But one of the main things about him is his size. Tom is just so small, kind of ruins it for me. That and many other things.

I saw the movie, but I hated it so I didn’t want to read the book. I thought the movie was creepy. Is the book creepy?

0
Kay

@Amanda not at all. It’s much easier to follow than the movie.

1
Brittany

@Amanda i felt the same way! I got MAJOR creep factor from that movie. Will never watch again!

1
Jill

@Amanda the book is gorgeous – you will see the beautiful meaning behind the title – it’s not at all what you may think! 🙂

1

Shauntel

Worst: Harry potter and the half blood Prince – left out 3/4 of the book.. left out the most important detail which is the explanation for why voldemorte hates muggles… which is what the who series is about!

5
Reply
Amanda

The whole series is definitely not about why Voldemort hates muggles ? it’s about Harry trying to survive and figure out how to destroy Voldemort while Voldemort attempts to carry out the prophecy made about them both.

2
Shauntel

Sorry the majority. But one of the main points is the fact volimorte is about pure bloods and his want for purity

0
Amanda

I’m not sure I would consider that a main point. I mean, that’s what the first war was about, but his second war and the ensuing Battle of Hogwarts was more about Harry than anything else ??‍♀️

1
Shauntel

I know that but I mean the explanation as to why voldemorte had this hatred was never explained in the movienlike the book. I believe it is an an extremily important fact / explanation that lead up to the other main events happening

0
Tara

Along that line: I hated Order of the Phoenix because the same: they cut out and compressed SO MUCH!!!

0
Amanda

My least favorite is far and away Goblet of Fire. The movie adaptation is absolute garbage

0
Shauntel

@Tara that one was my fav lol. Deff interesting how ppl have such different views with books to movies

0
Olivia

And I hated prisoner of Azkaban!

0
Amanda

@Olivia see I thought that one followed the book the best out of any of them really. Actually I think the first three did a pretty great job

1
Olivia

@Amanda I get frustrated every time because of how off the third one is but it’s always been my favorite book and so I have read the book a million times, I also hate how old lupin is! All the marauders should be in their early to mid 30s

0
Olivia

@Amanda but the first two movies were excellent!

0
Amanda

Olivia Bush Kruse I definitely agree about Lupin! I mean I realize the werewolf in him is supposed to be draining but he shouldn’t have looked that bad. The third is my second favorite book! It used to be my favorite but the older I get, the more HBP grows on me

The worst by far was eragon!
Divergent was good, but they slowly went down hill and the third completely changed the ending.

2
Reply
Amanda

Eragon was a terrible movie ? and I’m so pissed they changed the ending of Allegiant!!

1
Tiara

They were actually suppose to do the fourth movie, ascendant (or something like that), which would have added Tris’s death, Tobias zip lining, spreading her ashes etc, but they wanted to adapt it to a TV movie, and not a theatrical one, and all the main characters bailed. (Obv because they weren’t going to get paid enough, and would probably be slandered by the whole fan base), they were thinking about recasting Tris, Tobias, Peter and Caleb, but I don’t think they’re going to go through with it

1
Tiara

I think the thing I hate the most about the movie adaption though, is how.. there’s obviously not a connection between tris and Tobias. Also, hate how they keep calling him four lol

1
Marissa

Yeah, I would be upset if they did that. I had heard they were supposed to do a TV movie. I knew with they way they left it, they might try to add a fourth movie. The connection could have been stronger in the movies for sure. There was so much more going on between them. Also, I hated how they didn’t have Tris go through the grieving and what not after divergent. She was all sorts of messed up for awhile.

1
Mary

Best -hunger games worst- Golden Compass and The Giver (I refuse to watch it because It will ruin the book. From the trailer I can tell I’ll hate it)

0
Reply
Marissa

Lord of the rings was decent, but I wish the extended edition had more about the eagles because everyone who hadn’t read them hates on them for not helping more.
The hobbit was eh, I love the movies but hate all the extra crap they added to make it three movies.

1
Reply
Mary

Remind me about the Eagles. Why can’t they help sooner??

0
Marissa

They help throughout the books because Gandalf saved one from a poison arrow, but they are there own people and therefore aren’t there for every little thing. Plus they could be corrupted by the ring so they couldn’t just carry it. Hobbits are good and less likely to fall into the evil of the ring. Plus the eagles are massive! The spies of mordor and isengard would have noticed a giant eagle flying someone to mordor. The hobbits were able to sneak into mordor unnoticed thanks to the distraction of the wars with humans (Rohan and gondor). Plus, even if an eagle did manage to fly the ring over mount doom, there’s no way it could accurately drop the ring into the fire. It would be a drop and hope it hits the fires.

0
Aeron

All the extra stuff in the hobbit movies is from tied in short storys
