It depends – I love used books but there are some I would like to be new
I do occasionally buy books new, especially if I have previous books in the series (if it’s part of a series, of course).
@Jean same here, but I can find it used then I go that way ?
I have one book pre-ordered for May because I just don’t want to wait to read it ?

Don’t like a tatty book lol if it’s got a bent spine or ripped anywhere I just.cant touch it
The used books I find have all been in great shape. I haven’t had any of those problems. ?

It depends on the book. Some I want new, but most I am fine with in decent used condition.

I used to love going to second hand book shops then somebody said ‘what if the last person who read that book didn’t wash their hands after the toilet and then turned the pages on that book’ ? I didn’t buy a second hand book again

Gemma…don’t ever leave your house. If you do don’ t touch anything. Anything you can think of has been touched by someone that didn’t wash their hands after a visit to the bathroom.

@Gemma I admit to being irrational about a lot of things that are icky. I have been known to clean books before I read them. I volunteer at my local library and the librarians are endlessly entertained because I go through donated books with gloves on. ??

I have a small group of close friends that like to read! Whenever someone gets a new book they read it put their name in the front & pass it around the group for everyone to read & sign ! Most of these books we donate to places like salvation army in hopes that whoever reads them next does the same! ( of course we keep our favorites ) so I guess it just depends! I prefer to buy new books but I will not turn away a good used book!!
Used, except for first editions. The paper and cover really attracts me.
