Hard copy. I don’t consider audio as reading a book. It’s just a completely different experience for me.

Hard copy. I wasn’t successful in paying close enough attention to the one audiobook I’ve tried.

Depends – I love both audio & text (digital or print) because visual and audio double team to expand the brain’s perception.
Cases for Audio + Text:
*if the work is linguistically musical litfic – so not the 3rd book in a commercial puff, romance, or YA series, why bother.)
*if the work is voiced by someone sublime (like Shakespearean audio featuring Yule Brenner or the velvet-to-grimy fiction narration of Robert Goll)
*if it is narrated by the author, such as Toni Morrison, who knows the cadence/rhythm of their writing and where they want emphasis placed.
*if the text contains substantial dialect that may be difficult to sound out if never heard before or if you simply want to capture the verbal flavor as in the epic Man Booker winner “A Brief History of Seven Killings” by Marlon James, where Jamaican dialects are on parade, or “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain where pain of social status is accentuated by voice performance, best to go with both!
*if the reader has the atypical “auditory dominance” in their sensory modality and would benefit from both
*if the reader struggles with dyslexia, sight, or hand issues then audiobooks are a Godsend to help train the eye, brain, or simply ease suffering.

Both for me. I love to read but I also love being an online gamer so if I’m not online I like a hard copy but if I’m online I like an audiobook (currently listening to Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett while I gank ‘n’ spank some poor unfortunate 😛 )

Hard copy. It is very hard to find a good book with a good Narrator. My mind just won’t listen for long. My husband like audio books and we listen on car trips but they generally lull me to sleep.

Both. I listen when I drive long distance or I’m doing mundane chores. I also find listening helpful when there’s a lot of foreign phrases interspersed (The Name of the Rose comes to mind) or ethnic dialect (Their Eyes Were Watching God – once I got a sense for the rhythm of the dialect, I was able to read the print book more easily). The rest of the time I read print editions, bound books and ebooks both.
