I would suggest Jim Butcher-The Dresden files, Kevin Hearne- The Iron Druid Chronicles , but these aren’t really YA, so I would also read Garth Nix-Old Kingdom series ?

Eragon would be my first suggestion, truly brilliant series.
Then there’s the maze runner series.
The witcher books are only half male lead but still a brilliant series.
