I favor the flat cut, because of the sharper, (non Deckle} neater appearance.

I checked out the Deckle pages on my so called deluxe edition (soft cover) of Madam Bovary and found many of the page edges were flat /sharp, with the rest having the Deckle cut.

So far , I’ ve never seen this cut on mass media paperback publications, because of the possible added cost of publication.

As far as preference is concerned, to each his/her own.

I don’t have OCD – at least as far as I know – but I do like things to be smooth and regular.
