American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I’ve heard it’s brilliant and I’ve heard it’s awful.

I read the rest of it, and even I don’t know if I should recommend it or not. It’s a rollercoaster.

I ignore reviews, they can be misguided at times, I know my tastes vary.

I tend to ignore negative reviews until I’ve finished the book because if I don’t, I find myself biased. I do like reading the positive reviews beforehand!
Mixed reviews don’t bother me. It’s when I read a book everyone else gushed all over and I hate it.
I had apprehensions about The Bone Witch because of the mixed reviews, but I loved it, one of my favorites from this year
