I thought it would be fun for my mom and her club to go to but she went with my sister-in-law. I think mildly entertaining was her response but since it is at least entertaining on some level – this would be a good book club activity.
We really enjoyed it and had a nice time. At 45, my daughter was probably the youngest person in the theater. It was nice to see a movie of older actors.
Not my book club but did go with a group of 7 ladies. We had some laughs and the message of the movie don’t stop living whatever your age is universal for everyone.
They barely discuss that book or any other. It’s really about the women. I thought whoever did hair and makeup should be shot. Jane Fonda wore a dark red wig that looked like a dead rodent and Candace Bergen looked like the partner of the golf guy in the plaid pants at the country club. Mary Steenburgen at least had great hair–so did Diane Keaton.
I am in charge of the meeting this month and had hoped to but our local theater didn’t get it. All of my book options for the group to vote on were ones that have been or will be made in to movies.
I went with my best friend tonight. I haven’t laughed like this in years. I plan on buying the DVD when it comes out. It is a movie you watch when you need a laugh.
I also agree. Was very disappointed that these 4 intelligent women did not talk about books, but was centered on your relationship with a man. So disappointed. Very shallow
You should consider letting the other book club members know when you decide to go; you might get one or two people to come with you. 🙂 It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
There has to be one in the group, I was very disappointed in the the movie, best bits shown on tv. At least go for the matinee to save some money. And as Debbie Reynolds use to say on Will and Grace, “I told you so, I told you so”.
Our Cameo Movie Theater has a monthly Film & Fork event. We watch a movie and then go to a wonderful restaurant, Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen, and discuss the film. This month’s film is ‘Book Club’, I am so looking forward to it, it’s my favorite night of the month.
I suggested it to my club. We might just for fun ??
We are going tomorrow!
Went last night and laughed so hard. All of us enjoyed it.
Yes!
Not a chance
Two friends and I saw the movie. A good movie.
Nope ?
Should be fun.
yes and yes because you also need to laugh
Saw it. Laughed some. Should’ve been on Netflix.
That looks like a waste of talented actresses.]
Yes tomorrow night lol!
The movie was mildly entertaining. Wait to see it on tv.
I saw it and was disappointed. I did laugh a few times, but I was expecting a clever/funny Norah Ephron-like movie, which it is not.

My sister and I really enjoyed it.
Nope
Yes!
Very entertaining
Nope, not a chance
Yes.
@Louise
When can we go?
@Louise Um, that’s your call. You’re in charge of field trips!
Went last night with knitting group if that counts.
Yes, it counts!
Not going with a club but my daughter and I are leaving in about 15 minutes to see it.
We really enjoyed it and had a nice time. At 45, my daughter was probably the youngest person in the theater. It was nice to see a movie of older actors.
I’ll probably go see it but you guys are my only Club!
Not my book club but did go with a group of 7 ladies. We had some laughs and the message of the movie don’t stop living whatever your age is universal for everyone.
Sounds like a waste of talent to me.
Yes I can’t wait!!!
Some of us did! It was fun! And we reported back to the rest of the group at our monthly meeting.
If we can find a time that works for everyone.
Yes, absolutely 🙂 But it premiers i August in Denmark …
We might but we won’t be reading “Fifty Shades” first. ☺
This movie is laugh out loud funny. So good. I live in a retirement community and theaters open at 9:30 am, packed today.
Yes! It was really good 🙂
Yes!
Light but very charming – fun movie
have been avoiding that movie due to them reading 50 SHADES, which i hated…but maybe i should see it anyway
Highly recommend you see it….I want yo say so much but don’t want to spoil it…

@Sue i had hoped lily tomlin was in it cuz she is fab n funny. but thx i guess i will check it out soon
@Linda It wasn’t great dialogue, but a welcome diversion from our country’s current woes.
@Linda P.S. I love Lily Tonkin too
Yes, my book club went on Sunday. It was so good. Everyone loved it and thanked me for making the suggestion! ?
We do see movies together typically, but no one seems overly interested in this one.
This afternoon!
We went yesterday. Glad to spend time with friends, but the movie was rather disappointing although as a Senior, I appreciate seeing older actors.
Yes, we went on the weekend. It was very fun. We laughed out loud several times. Go. Enjoy yourselves.
I want to so bad! It looks so funny. I may have to go by myself!
Yes.
It was laugh out loud funny. Several people in the audience applauded at the end. No heavy messages, just a good time.
Loved loved loved! Laughed through the whole movie!
Finally a movie that isn’t all special effects, super-hero, shoot-em-up, and tells a real story!
I want to see it, just because of the cast. Love all four of these actors. Can’t find anyone to see it with me, though.
Go by yourself
No sitter. Lol
I am so old I forgot about that issue. Eventually, you will be able to see it.
Yup. Lol
Yes, this Friday with @Toni @Elvira @Kimberly @Cynthia
Yes! We are planning to go soon.
It is a fun movie and all the stars looked good. Witty dialogue
Yes, we are going!
Yes, even though we didn’t read the books.
umm…no thanks.
I would except I’ve boycotted one of the people in it.
me too. 🙂
That is a great idea! Why didn’t I think of that?
Just got back. It was a great time. I can’t think of the last time I came out of a movie and everyone was laughing
I couldn’t get my book club to go but I went and really enjoyed it.
we are
Yes! We went on Sunday. Loved it!
No desire.
Has Jane Fonda in it. Never.
We did already! It was fun.
Yes
Cute movie!! Not a fan of the books though. Haha
I loved it. I saw it Sunday
I saw it Saturday, and enjoyed it. I don’t want to sound like a snob, but I truly hope that 50 Shades isn’t voted America’s Favorite Read.
I feel that an awful lot of us agree with you!
me too!!
I don’t think there is anything in the least bit snobbish about your wish. I echo it.
I am in charge of the meeting this month and had hoped to but our local theater didn’t get it. All of my book options for the group to vote on were ones that have been or will be made in to movies.
Talked about it, haven’t decided.
Yes!! 3 of us out of the 5 are going Monday! Got the tickets, can’t wait!!?
We’ve suggested it. I know some members of our club will be going!
I think we will have Lunch and a Movie when it streams or comes out on Redbox
I went with my best friend tonight. I haven’t laughed like this in years. I plan on buying the DVD when it comes out. It is a movie you watch when you need a laugh.
Yes
Half the members of the book club I’m in (six of us) went as a group last weekend. We really enjoyed it!
Awful movie…so disappointed
Seems we are in the minority. I agree with you
I also agree. Was very disappointed that these 4 intelligent women did not talk about books, but was centered on your relationship with a man. So disappointed. Very shallow
@Elsie, and demeaning
suggested to my book group this evening. Problem, everyone is so busy, can’t seem to pick a date to please the group!! Oh, well…I probably go myself.
You should consider letting the other book club members know when you decide to go; you might get one or two people to come with you. 🙂 It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
We went and had a great time!! Good movie
My book club is going next Saturday assuming it stays in out theater that long. I’ve heard such good things about it
We saw it together. It was great!
Yes, as a matter fact, we’re going tomorrow!
Saw it with my cousin. It was so funny
I saw it with my aunt. We loved it! My book club would probably not be interested just because of the subject matter.
Yes! We do “Book Club goes to the Movies” every few months and we are heading to see them movie “Book Club” next week!
I spent so much on books, will have to wait for redbox.
loved it!
Yes! On Tuesday. Not doing 50 Shades, tho.
Yes. They are going on Friday and I can’t make it.
I saw this movie, it’s hysterically funny! Laughed & loved it.
There has to be one in the group, I was very disappointed in the the movie, best bits shown on tv. At least go for the matinee to save some money. And as Debbie Reynolds use to say on Will and Grace, “I told you so, I told you so”.
I can’t wait to see it!!
Already have and it is worthwhile. Always something new to do at any age.
Next Tuesday!
Next week! I didn’t want to go opening weekend due to crowds.
No crowds at my theater
Yes! mine is going tonight.
Our group is going. We are the proseco book club
Prosecco? I like the sound of that.
I went with my book club Monday night!! What a fantastically funny movie!!
I saw this movie and enjoyed it. I have not laughed so much at a movie for a long time. Take the time to see it

My group really should do it!
Yeah, I kinda wish the same thing.
