If you’re a Christian some parts will be difficult to read, but remember it’s a book of fiction. There is also a lot of truth in the book, good starting points of conversation about God, Jesus, etc.
If you’re a parent the book is very difficult to read. It has as happy an ending as it can but parts of it will rip your heart out. Also if you have experienced the loss of a sibling it can be difficult.
But whatever your religious orientation or if you have kids/siblings or not, it is a very good book with many life lessons and ways of looking at situations and life in general. If you leave your mind open a little you can learn a lot.
The movie was good and pretty close to the book but kinda boring in places.
2 readings and one viewing of the movie was enough for me. I’ll never read/watch it again bc it’s too emotionally draining. All that said, I definitely recommend it to everyone!
@Kate well there are a lot of things in the book that I, as a Christian, agree with. But there are just as many things I don’t agree with.
The word “Christian” is a pretty broad term that covers many different religions;basically anyone who believes that Jesus was God’s son. But within Christianity there are many, many different belief systems. I’m a some-what conservative Baptist. I see the book as fiction with some truth…kinda like historical fiction. A lot of facts with a lot of made up stuff.
I think overall the book has an amazing message of forgiveness, strength, and courage. As a fiction book I loved it. As a Christian I love it with some reservations.
@Kate I would disagree with that assumption. You may find it amazingly refreshing. I really can’t compare it with anything else because it is so unique.
@Kim there were a few things I disagreed with too. My family and I spent many an evening dissecting it. In the end we decided it was a good work of fiction!
Read it twice. It’s a tough read but worth it. The movie adaptation was pretty good too. But read the book before you watch the movie. As someone who has lost a child – this book gave me a lot food for thought.
On my kindle
That book will stay with you for a long time…..
Read the book 4 times. Saw movie twice. Love the book
Great book and even the movie is wonderful, too!
I did. Many years ago. I wasn’t a fan…sorry.
Looooved it ❤️❤️
I read it twice. Very good.

Isn’t it a Christian book? I guess I’m confused by the difficult comment… All my Christian friends love it, which makes me uninterested completely

Ah ok. So as a non religious I’ll hate it. I figured thanks.
And I know all about Christianity and it’s branches, trust me. That’s why I steer clear

Oh I can tell, I’m not interested at all. Was just curious by what you said, still no desire. Thanks
