Anyone read Where’d you go, Bernadette? I’m suffering and only up to Part 3. Is it worth it?

It’s another love/hate one. I hated it. Most everyone else loved it. I hated it because Bernadette annoyed the heck out of me. 😉
I loved it, but it may not be for you.
I’m listening to it (audiobook) & am enjoying it.
Audio book made it much more enjoyable
I never saw the appeal either.
Liked it, didn’t love it.
You have to read the whole book to appreciate it. I struggled through most of it, but it really came together at the end.
I also felt the same when I was reading Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine. By the end I throughly enjoyed it, but I almost stopped reading it several times.
See, now I loved Eleanor. It’s the character. She was quirky, but I loved her. 😉
I read it because I saw they were making it into a movie and the trailer looked good. I have to confess, I felt it was only ok.
Meh. Finished but totally could have dnf.
I did not like it… And honestly I don’t know why
I wasn’t in love with it, but I didn’t regret it. I don’t think you are missing anything if you move on without it.
Since everyone is commenting again, I’m going to say, I never felt connected to the characters. I was never Bernadette’s homie. I didn’t really care what happened either way.
Yeah. Didn’t like it enough to finish
Yeah. Didn’t like it enough to finish
I thought it was meh. I didn’t hate it, but wish I had chosen something else to read instead.
I think I read 40 pages before deciding I hated it.
? that’s one of my reading challenge books!!
I just finished it today. I liked the style so it kept my interest. I thought it had an original voice. I appreciate that. ?
I was told it was a laugh out loud book. I didnt even chuckle.
I loved the audiobook
I thought it was fun! It reminded me of children’s book (like Beezus and Ramona) where something zany was always happening!
Wasn’t a fan
not to me. No. Not a fan.
I read it a couple weeks ago…felt like it dragged early on but picked up later for me. Ultimately enjoyed it and the message I took from it
Couldn’t finish it…?
I wasn’t into it until part 3, and then I was glad I pushed through.
I finished it, but I didn’t like it as much as everyone told me I would. My sister and my former boss both told me it was “omg so amazing!!” And I felt very meh about it. It was just okay, I guess.
I DO want to see the movie though. That actually looks pretty good!
I just finished it. I loved it up to the final part. It seemed to just end (for me).
No! Don’t waste your time. I didn’t enjoy it one bit!
Another one I thought was meh! But they are making a movie so that might give you the motivation to finish
It was ok. Not spectacular
I finished. That was the first time I realized that not finishing a book you don’t enjoy is not the end of the world. Because sometimes the book just doesn’t get better.
Good, but not excellent
I liked it! Push through.
The audiobook is amazing. Maybe give it a try instead
@Meredith, I agree! I loved the audiobook!!!
Stopped reading halfway thru
It wasn’t for me.
It’s quirky and weird. I pushed through it. In the end I liked it!

I agree, it’s quirky and weird and I also finished. Don’t think I’ll read more by this author. Too many books and too little time!
I wonder when books get hyped up why l don’t get excited. Thought it was just okay
I wanted to love it but didn’t even really like it that much. Had a hard time getting through it.
Good, not great.
My library is reading it for book club and I really want to go ( my first time) but I didn’t like the book and abandoned it pretty quickly. Anyone want to give me insightful things to say about it so I can still participate lol?
I didn’t think it was worth it, especially since I despised the ending!
I really liked it
I loved it! But only continue if you want to!
I loved it but if you don’t go ahead and give it up. There are too many good books to suffer through the once that aren’t working for you!
I did not like it at all – I finished the book but it didn’t get any better for me.
I struggled with it as well but I did end up finishing it. It certainly was not my favorite book but also not my least.
Agreed. ?
I enjoyed it.
I thought is was slow at first, but I really ended up liking the book and am excited about the movie.
I read it and finished it, but didn’t particularly enjoy it.
Meh…it’s okay. I finished it and mildly enjoyed but not so much that I was recommending it to friends.
I’ve just started it and I’m enjoying it so far
I struggled through the middle but I was glad I hung in and finished it.
I found it Meh
Wasn’t one of my favorites.
I couldn’t get into it. I only got halfway through it ?
Not really
I couldn’t get into it. I got about halfway and realized, “I just don’t even care what happens to these characters…..”
I’m with Kris. I suffered through to the end and my reaction was, “Really?! Ugh! I stayed for this????!!!!”
I tried reading it with no success, but listened to it in a road trip and thought it was hilarious
I read the whole thing and kept expecting it to get better. I was disappointed.
I learned that it’s hard to know what someone will find humorous. I laughed so hard I cried. No one in my book club liked it.
I liked it…but I’m slightly weird.?
@Diana I LIKE weird, but the ending made me angry. The quirkiness of the book was what I liked.
I loved it, especially the ending. I admit to crying at the ending. But her following book, I couldn’t get into at all
@Tina same with that book. It was so meh.
@Diana exactly
I love that book. I read it twice ! You either love the quirky writing style, or don’t.
@Julie I am halfway through and I am loving it. I like the writing style.
I listened to it on a road trip and almost fell asleep at the wheel! Nope, not good at all!
@Lila glad you didn’t, and lived to tell…
I thought it was funny.
I loved it, mainly for the fact that it was so different.
If you’re suffering with it, though, it might be time to move on to something else. Maybe wait til the movie comes out.
Loved the first part, got really slow though. I stuck it out just cause I wanted to know where she was.
