As a librarian she’s one of my top go-tos when people say they don’t care about genre, they just want a “good story”. Always a winner – she does tell a great story!
The Forgotten Garden sucked me in and took over my life for 3 days until I finished. She is an amazing storyteller. Historical stories are my favorite!
The House at Riverton, the Forgotten Garden, The Distant Hours, The Secret Keeper, The Lake House and, soon to be published in US, The Clockmakers Daughter.
I liked a couple but dint like 1… my fave is the garden one, not so fave the sister and weird ghost story, but I’d pick her up again as beach/travel read
I loved the Forgotten Garden. Just the story was drew you in but having historical knowledge of that time period can lead you in all sorts of different thoughts and directions about characters. Love when you can weave fiction with reality and leave a reader pleased that they invested their time.
Are all her books romance novels? I know that she has history in them also, but just wondering. I have read a couple of synopsis and it seems to lean toward romance.
Thank you for the information. This may be an author I pick up at the library and give her a try. I am not a romance fan. Although I did read a review of one of her books that said is you like Downtown Abby you will love this book. I am a huge Downtown fan.
I discovered Kate Morton’s novels back in 2010 when visiting my son in Cadiz, Kentucky. I visited a quaint book shop in Cadiz and bought a copy of The Forgotten Garden and after reading I was hooked, I purchased her earlier novels all of which are great reads and have continued to read her novels, The Forgotten Garden is still my fav of all her novels to date, looking forward to her new novel The Clockmakers Daughter. I see that there are new covers issued over time for her novels, here is a pic of the original The Forgotten Garden

Love Kate Morton! The House at Tyneford (by Natasha Solomon, I think) is very Kate Norton-esque if you’re looking for other books in that vein.

I love her books, and am looking forward to her new one this fall!
Are all her books romance novels? I know that she has history in them also, but just wondering. I have read a couple of synopsis and it seems to lean toward romance.
They are more like slowly-revealed multi-generational historical suspense romance. Not lovey- dovey romance.
