There’s a graphic novel called “Sailor Twain” about a steamboat and a mermaid in the Hudson River. It explores alot of the elements of mermaid mythology/folklore.

There’s a really good Korean Drama called “Legend of the Deep Blue Sea” on Hulu. Unless you speak Korean, it’s kind of like reading because of subtitles. My sister really loves mermaid stories too and she really enjoyed it.
