Although it is not a full biography, I just finished this book and I seriously loved it!. It’s about a girl that was really close to her mom and her mom suddenly died of cancer. And after that her life went spiraling down she got divorced and started using heroin. Then one day she found a book about this hiking trail that goes through the mountains from the border of Mexico all the way through California Oregon and Washington. She decided she was gonna hike it, and with absolutely no hiking experience she she strapped on a pack that weighed as much as she did and walked over 1100 miles by herself. It’s a really awesome and true story. I highly recommend it! https://amzn.to/2Vu1H9Z
Most of the biographies I read these days are either Holocaust related or historical figure related. I can recommend all the Louis XIV if you’d like? 😛
Damon Runyon, A Life … Jimmy Breslin. Probably the most entertaining and well written bio I have ever read (I am 55 and, conservatively, own over 2,000 books)
I read ‘unbearable lightness’ an autobiography by Portia De Rossi. I very rarely read autobiographies. But this book has stuck with me still. Since reading it, I’ve never seen Portia the same way. I see her as such a strong woman who went through a lot. So happy for her and Ellen in all they do together. She truly looks happy and healthy.
Becoming the Supervet: Listening to the Animals by Noel Fitzpatrick. I liked him for his work before, but after reading this my admiration for him skyrocketed.
Einstein by Walter Isaacson; Breaking Points by the Hinckleys; The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls; Winter is Coming(about Putin) by Gary Kasparov; The Undoing Project by Michael Lewis.
“Grant” by Ron Chernow and “Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder Of a President” by Candice Millard. Both excellent books.
I don’t read them so can’t think of any. I used to read them about 30 years ago but moved on to other things. I think it is because I don’t like celebrity much. I like entertainment and being entertained but not reading about celebrities. One book I read was George Washington, I do like reading history about the past US presidents.
