@Megan that is a good idea to do

@Lena it’s been working well for me. Sometimes I even slip a random book in between the books in a trilogy, depending on how much I like it. When I read Robin Hobbs books I wanted to make them last so I tried not to binge read all 16 in a row. ?

I just need a couple hours to contemplate the last series i read. Its more of a breather. Then i move on. But lately ive had a lot of time to read and i only allow myself a few minutes inbetween.

I switch back from science fictions to fantasy back-and-forth.

it gets hard after you’ve been reading fantasy for a while. I seem to notice it’s the same story a lot over and over . How many WOT coming of age stories can one read?

Depends how similar they are if they are quite similar I struggle so try to space epic fantasy with some light hearted inbetween.

I usually go…
Fantasy
Horror
Fantasy
literally classic
Fantasy – usually a dumb one with more sex in it after if I’ve read some old English long-winded book lol
I dont really like any other genres that I’ve tried
Fantasy is my favourite definitely
But it is hard to go from world to world
Sometimes you can get away with doing a really serious fantasy and then a dumb one and it’s a different enough feel.
The struggle is real lol

Nope I love fantasy it’s the only genre I really ever read with a rare occasional skip to another genre. Sometimes I try to read a stand-alone in between a longer series but other than that I stick with fantasy almost exclusively.

I usually cleanse the mental palate with something educational/sciencey like a book on space or human evolution before I start a new series.

Helen

Only when I really loved the last one and then find it hard to judge whether the next is OK or rubbish because my expectations have risen. I’m better off reading something in a different genre before going back to fantasy.

Yes it’s hard. You get super invested with the characters and events of one series and there’s a time of ‘loss’ after finishing, that makes me feel unable to pick up another straight away.

It depends. If I have read a few books in the same universe, I sometimes struggle to adapt to a new writing style particuarly if I have really embraced the characters.

I’m like that with any book really. I have to wait a day or 2 before starting the next.
