@Avid I tried a spreadsheet but ended up starting a journal instead. I can carry it in my bag and update as needed. I’ve been on Netgalley for 8 years and love it!
I need to get more organized!! It is a source of stress for me because I forget to look at the publish dates and get caught behind and I add too many books…but I love NetGalley!!
I have a running list with the books and their due dates. I have it in word, so I move them to the bottom under a different heading when I get them done – and mark them FINISHED AND REVIEWED.
I enjoy it but never take another book until I finish others. My limit is 5 at one time. I figure authors really want the books reviewed and if I don’t have time then I don’t want to take one and keep someone else from getting it that does have time to read and review. To me it’s about getting reviews out there not how many books I have.
Exactly. No matter what, I always read and review what I receive. It’s a huge commitement and takes dicipline. I usually request a book when I write a review. So far I’m ahead of schedue.
NetGalley is a service to promote and publicize forthcoming titles to readers of influence. If you are a reviewer, blogger, journalist, librarian, bookseller, educator, or in the media, you can use NetGalley for free to request, read, and recommend titles before they are published.
@Maryann that would classify as reviewer. One is expected to always review on all social media. Just reading is not an option, The choices are blogger, consumer reviewer, book trade professional and traditional reviewer.
@Sharlene I know that I’m just saying you don’t have to be a publisher, author etc or have a blog (I don’t) but review on Goodreads But even as only a “reviewer” not all publishers will approve a request ( I was turned down twice: told I didn’t meet their criteria)
Call me crazy but I am not a fan of NetGalley… I tried to get two books ? from them and they sent me an email stating that both books weren’t there why have them if you can’t get them I don’t get it!!!?????????!

@Heather what grade do you teach? I wonder if you are an elementary teacher, would you still be approved for adult books? Just wondering why being an educator, especially, elementary would get you approved more? And I’m not saying you, in particular, just in general because I noticed the educator option!
It can be, but you can control it. Only select books you are truly interested in so you don’t have to force yourself to read. Don’t get so many that you get behind. And honestly I know a few on here are getting quite a few books but that is the exception. Many of us are turned down. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to how they grant requests. It says to have a rating of 80% reviewed but I know they are not following their own guideline.
It was overwhelming to me at first. I requested so many books and it was becoming a chore. Once I got the hang of it and organized my books , it became fun again. I do review each one.
I find the more reviews I do the more fun they are. At first I would put them off because they were so hard for me, but like anything else in life….practice practice practice!!!
OMG… You should see my spreadsheet
Do show! I had to make one too because I could not keep up! It’s insane!
Goodness me!! How do I get my book on your lists?? 🙂
@Hannah, if it’s on Netgalley, I’ll read it
@Heather It is! It is 🙂 The Neighbors – Hannah Mary McKinnon. Pub date is March 13. I’d be flattered if you read it!
@Hannah, I’ve read it. I read it from Edelweiss. I loved it
@Heather That’s amazing! Yes! And you rated it on Goodreads already. Five stars. Wow!!! ?❤️? Thank you!
@Avid I tried a spreadsheet but ended up starting a journal instead. I can carry it in my bag and update as needed. I’ve been on Netgalley for 8 years and love it!
Great idea, @Tammy! I think it’s easier to write it down but my writing is awful! ?
@Hannah, I just requested yours! ?
@Avid, you’re in for an awesome treat
@Avid Woohoo! Thank you so much! Please let me know when it’s approved – and what you think of the book. Hope you like it!
What’s netgalley
It’s a site where you read advance reader copies. It’s only for ebooks
Nice! Thanks!
I’m addicted lol
Holy MOLY that site is addicting….just signed up a couple of days ago and already have 4 ARCs. Plus the 60+ in my TBR pile…
I need to start putting more effort into this! I want to just need to make time! I think that’ll be this months goal!
It is very addictive. I tell myselt to catch up on what I have already and then new books entice me in! LOL
Love NetGalley!
I love NetGalley! I am a little behind on my reading though.. working on getting caught up
I’m new to Netgalley and am overwhelmed with the number of books I now have! How do i know when the due date is?
Are you on a kindke?? I go to desk top site and it organizations them. It looks much better in desk top mode then mobile!!
Thanks for the tip! It helped!!?⚘?
It’s listed in your dashboard on NetGalley as to when the release. Also the publisher might have left instruction on when they reviews shared.
I need to get more organized!! It is a source of stress for me because I forget to look at the publish dates and get caught behind and I add too many books…but I love NetGalley!!
Definitely do a spreadsheet
Ugh!!!! Just the thought makes me have a anxiety attack!! Have no patience when it comes to that!

I just started using it this year. Wow. I’m loving it !
Never tried/used it…
Love it but I’m so far behind in reading their books!
Me too
I just have to stop adding so many at one time! Lol
@Lou me, too, but it’s addicting! Since I’m so far behind, I’m going to read the ones I really want to read first.
I love NetGalley and appreciate the publishers who participate!
I enjoy it but never take another book until I finish others. My limit is 5 at one time. I agree.

I’m falling behind! How fast do they want reviews?
Check the notes from the publisher. Usually about a month to two weeks before the book releases.
Thanks!
Love NetGalley! I am starting a new position at work next week, so I won’t have as much time to read, but I can’t stop requesting books! ?
I know the feeling! Thankfully for me reading is part of my job ?
Dream job!!!
I need an intervention! I’m just beginning to get overwhelmed, help me please! The only thing that keeps me calm is knowing I’m not alone.
You are not alone there are many many of us out there with the same predicament
What is NetGalley?
A website where u can get an ARC ( advance reader copy) of upcoming books ( some not all). http://netgalley.com/
NetGalley is a service to promote and publicize forthcoming titles to readers of influence. If you are a reviewer, blogger, journalist, librarian, bookseller, educator, or in the media, you can use NetGalley for free to request, read, and recommend titles before they are published.
@Sharlene you can also be a reader and they can approve you or not
@Maryann even as a reader, you’re expected to review.
@Maryann that would classify as reviewer. One is expected to always review on all social media. Just reading is not an option, The choices are blogger, consumer reviewer, book trade professional and traditional reviewer.

@Maryann exactly, you would be a consumer reviewer.
@Sharlene yup but I had good luck with St Martin Press
Just “joined”
Call me crazy but I am not a fan of NetGalley… I tried to get two books ? from them and they sent me an email stating that both books weren’t there why have them if you can’t get them I don’t get it!!!?????????!
They are limited, which is why I never take more than I can read and review.
Just signed up today but confused about it! You request books and if lucky to get approved, read then review and hope to get more ARCs?

Exactly! The more reviews you submit, you start to get more approvals when you request.
Awesome. Just got my first book sent over!
Woohoo! Enjoy!
Do I have to be an author?
No
No I’m an educator
@Heather so as a teacher, you get approved more?
@Tammy, it’s 50/50 but I added a book blog so that helps somewhat
@Heather what grade do you teach? I wonder if you are an elementary teacher, would you still be approved for adult books? Just wondering why being an educator, especially, elementary would get you approved more? And I’m not saying you, in particular, just in general because I noticed the educator option!
@Tammy, I was a preschool teacher. Now disabled. I get approved for more adult books than kids
I am interested, but I am afraid that reading will become a chore if I have to meet reading deadlines.
It can be, but you can control it. Only select books you are truly interested in so you don’t have to force yourself to read. Don’t get so many that you get behind. It says to have a rating of 80% reviewed but I know they are not following their own guideline.
So then just limit yourself to a certain number of books you know you can handle even if it’s 2 at a time.
I just joined. Can’t wait to see how it plays out.
