from lying on my side while reading!

@Alison If you use a device, find a stuffed animal to support it. Prop the device between its arms and legs.

Cute. Good tip! I use a pillow but still end up crushing my shoulders. I have to learn to be more comfortable on my back I guess 🙁 I’ve actually thought about posting this before asking what others do!

@Alison, I find that propping the Kindle up on a pillow (or stuffed animal like Serena’s!), raises it up a bit, so I’m not fully on my side, but rather somewhere between side and back. Maybe you could try a plumper pillow or stuffed animal?

So every night when I go to bed, hubby brings me my mini ice bag so I can put it between my neck and pillow so I can read more, lol.

depends how long I’m reading for and in what position I’m reading, sitting up, usually my neck gets sore…laying down, my arms get sore so I have to switch hands holding my book. no pain, no gain 😉

My elbow aches from bending it too long, and my hands go numb if I don’t change positions often. Using a kindle with the cover propping it up helps

If I read on my cell phone for too long my wrist gets sore.

Back in my pre-Kindle days my hand would sometimes cramp up. But the Kindle is so light weight that’s no longer a problem. And I do a lot of my reading in bed, lying on my side with the Kindle propped on a pillow so I’m not even holding it at all! Just need to flick a finger slightly to turn the page. ?

A perk of an ereader. You can set the book down and don’t have to hold it open.

I do all the time, but the alternative is neck pain from looking down onto my Kindle or book.

I have a stand for my iPad, holds it up in the air. Can’t do a photo right now as I’m not home. Just put it on a couple pillows, nothing to hold open.

Mary

@Bonnie thankyou, where do you get it?

0
Bonnie

@Mary I got it on Amazon. I’m on a trip right now or I’d post a photo. I got my husband one too, he loves it bc it keeps the lights in our ceiling from shining on the iPad.

Yes. Depends how I sit or lay to read …but it’s not from “reading” I’ve been a carpenter for a long time….so I’ve beat up my body. And now at 47…. EVERYTHING hurts….lol
Biggest thing for me is…my hands go numb….I’ve actually dropped a book or Kindle on my face if I’m laying I’m bed reading…lol. Which is a great story…. ” How’d ya get the back eye?”. Uhhhhh. I was reading…..???

I love this little holder for my Kindle. If closes to almost nothing and fits in my purse. I can use it to hold my Kindle either vertically or horizontally. It goes everywhere my Kindle goes.
