@Lucas I’ve never played them myself but have always thought they looked cool as hell. I think there is a new solo war hammer 40k rpg coming out that I’m looking forward too.
Gortex and Felix are by far my favorite out of all the books, loved the Lord’s of the dead, and mostly anything of the old world in Warhammer, I’ve ventured into some of the 40k but I really have to be in the mood for books like that tho. But I do find allot of it very enjoyable.
A lot of it is surprisingly good, considering their tie-in nature, but there’s a lot of real duds too. But as long as you understand that most of the books are pretty pulpy action yarns, you’ll probably head off any unrealistic expectations.
Regarding Warhammer Fantasy, I’d recommend the Gotrek and Felix series to begin – it’s a nice intro the the world, and is probably the most iconic series for that setting. Gotrek is a dwarf slayer – someone who has taken an oath to seek a glorious death in battle as atonement for some past crime – and Felix is the unlucky human writer who promised to record his doom.
Then, I’d recommend my personal favourite, the Malus Darkblade series. Malus is a dark elf (and unlike Drizzt is very much an embodiment of his race, and not a weird exception) gets a daemon trapped inside him and has to find five magical artefacts within a year, or he loses his soul.
Brunner the Bounty Hunter is a great series of short stories – he’s kind like a cross between Dredd and Clint Eastwood ?
I personally also enjoyed the Knights of Bretonnia series – Arthurian style stuff.
As for 40k – start with the Eisenhorn series – spy/detective series about an Inquisitor and his posse. Then Gaunt’s Ghosts – absolute classic military sci-fi series. Ciaphas Cain is another great series – think Blackadder meets Flashman – in 40k. Those are probably the best intros to the universe.
As far as I was aware the Dark Elves are merely a group splintered off by a political divide (Malekith is the true heir according to them) and they are basically the same race as the High Elves but their culture is different.
My point was that they’re elves who are evil as hell, and unlike Drizzt, who as a good drow is an exception to his race, Malus is evil through and through, and is, by contrast, a perfect example of the Druchii.
first few gotrek and felix books are good. Not a lot of story but they are action packed.
I did like some of the vampire novels they had more lore
I found this at a bookstore. Thought it sounded pretty good
I’ve read a couple (Both fantasy and 40K) and generally they are pretty fucking awful. 🙁
Which ones?
Hard work to read these
Glad you asked! I was just looking into these myself. I love the art and style of the games and have wondered how good they are as well as the books.
It’s funny, this question was posted just as I was playing Total War: Warhammer 2 lol

The Mathias Thalmann: Witchhunter books aren’t bad.

Yeah, they’re not Drow. (Based on drow though.)
