He is an amazing author and taken from us far too soon ? if you enjoy those his other Discworld books might be of interest to your reading list and if you decide to give them a go start with Mort or Guards! Guards! Those are a few books into his Discworld series and shows off his writing and humour properly, I started with Mort and got hooked.

Susan Cooper’s Dark is Rising series… Probably just a tad younger than “young adult”, but still a damn good read.

I agree with both of SJM’s series, Vampire Academy, and Six of Crows, and also if you want a quick read i would suggest a Study in Charlotte ?

2

Brittany

I’ve heard six of crows is better than the grisha series. Have you read that one too? I started the first book and I find it rather boring. I’m only a few chapters in though, but some say it’s better to read that before six of crows.

0
Sarah

@Brittany omigosh for some reason I almost hated the Grisha Trilogy. I didn’t really like any of the characters, plot, or setting. However, I was completely hooked with Six of Crows. It’s the weirdest thing!! ? I haven’t read Crooked Kingdom yet, but I highly recommend it ?

0
Brittany

@Sarah okay! I mean I already bought the first two in the grisha series so I might as well read them ? I’ve just been seeing a lot of hate on them and so far I’m bored haha. At least I know six of crows won’t be the same way.

1
Sarah

@Brittany yeah I bought them as well. It’s not a terrible series; I personally just didn’t like it. ?

“Young Wizard” series by Diane Duane. I bought the first one because it was titled “So You Want to be a Wizard?” 🙂 There are 11 books in total; I haven’t read them all but intend to do so.

“A Series of Unfortunate Events” by Lemony Snicket is definitely bizarre, but it was a good read. There’s 13 (!) books in the series.

You’ve read Percy Jackson, but did you know the author, Rick Riordan, has multiple series all set in the same universe? Aside from the original Percy Jackson series, there’s a sequel series to it, as well as Kane Chronicles (Egyptian themed), the Magnus Chase series (Norse themed), and Trials of Apollo (only read after both Percy Jackson series).

I’d also love to recommend The Chronicles of Nick. It’s a YA spinoff series set in Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter universe, but without all the crappy romance subplots to spoil the sweet supernatural goodness and overarching story.
