I used to be a slow reader a few months ago. I’ve practiced not having to move my eyes as much to scan the page while still reading all of the words. Now that it’s been a few months of reading almost all the time instead of watching TV I’m a much faster reader. I still don’t read quite as fast as some people because I really like to soak up the story and I don’t skip stuff though.

Just take time to enjoy the story. No prizes for speed-reading for the sake of it.

Don’t make reading a chore or a contest, reading is to inspire, enjoy, breathe and imagine.

Never rush it. Never skate over it. You won’t enjoy it

Enjoy what you are reading; speed is not a relevant variable.

I see so many postings about how many books people are reading in this or that challenge…..I read for my own enjoyment…..reading is popcorn for the brain for me……I will start a book and if it is good, I will read it start to finish in as little time as it takes me to do so……it is just too good to put down…..and who wants to vacuum or dust anyway

Skim. Also pass over character descriptions you’ve read hundreds of times

Audiobooks. I listen while cleaning, driving, getting ready to go somewhere. All those things that used to interrupt my reading time ?
