I love the ending, and I love how it is foreshadowed in Ciurley (? — sorry, it has been a while…) NOT taking the responsibility and killing his own dog…
I absolutely loved that book. I read it in high school and absolutely adored it. I’m scared to pick up anything else by him but I know I enjoyed that one.
Joi, you might enjoy „The Pearl“. It‘s a short novel and easy to read, yet an enchanting mix of Steinbeck‘s social criticism and a very poetic language.
Really don’t like that book.
It was ok. I had to read it for high school… wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t want to finish it… would not have been my first choice
But of mice and men and two kill a mockingbird were the two books I liked out of the whole 4 years of HS
I understand why this book is considered one of his best and its so popular. But personally I find “East of Eden” to be way better. Probably his best.
I love of mice and men the end is sad thou
After having 2 teenagers have to study it for English literature..my thoughts are ‘meh’.
I taught that book for 14 years.
I always waited to see the reaction of the kids at the ending.
The ending is so sad, i had to read it in high school but enjoyed it
I love the book. The ending is heartbreaking and touching.
East of Eden is great. My favorite is Grapes of Wrath.
Loved East of Eden just don’t know why I waited till I was 53 to read it, will have to try Grapes of Wrath!
I’m going to add these two to my TBR List. Thanks!
I absolutely love Of Mice and Men. To me, the ending is tragically beautiful. So many times the right thing to do is the hardest thing thing to do.
I’ve always hated that book.

Have never read but East of Eden is one of my all time favorites!
Read it in high school. One of the best books I was made to read. The ending is both tragic and beautiful.
