My mom told me Intensity by Dean Koontz is one of the scariest books to this day she has read. I bought it in October but still haven’t read it cause I’m scared lol ???
I’ve very recently finished Jeff Long’s The Descent which was plenty scary. No relation to the movie of the same name, but it did borrow several concepts from this book.
Desperation Stephen King and Regulators Richard Bachmann. Read them back to back. Same characters in both but completely different stories. Also, RL Stine’s adult novels.
Mr. Mercedes is not really horror, rather ‘crime’ but with a “King” twist. Note that it is the first book of a trilogy. Second book is Finders Keepers and third is End of Watch. Definitely a good series! (y)
The Shining
The house next door
Amityville horror
The killing lessons
Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay and City of Masks by Daniel Hecht
The Dark Half by Stephen King.

I meant that to reply to Jaimie Rogers. Lol
Oh I didn’t know there was a movie!!!!
@Jaimie I think it was a made for TV movie quite a while back. But it was very good I thought. Look for it.

I love horror and researched some of the best horror books out there. I added these ones to my list after reading reviews so check them out ?
Pen Pal was quite good. Coraline is awesome, but never really get why it’s considered horror.
Also heard good things about Stephan King’s Pet Sematary
Bird Box, Head Full of Ghosts, Horrorstor, My Best Friend’s Exorcism, Empyres:Bloodbind
Horrorstor is great
The Troop and The Deep, both by Nick Cutter.
Really liked the Deep. Own the Troop but haven’t read it yet
Desperation Stephen King and Regulators Richard Bachmann. Read them back to back. Same characters in both but completely different stories.
Also, RL Stine’s adult novels.
The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty.
Ghost Story by Peter Staub, and The Shining by Stephen King scared me so bad, I kept putting it into my closet.
The Hollower by Mary Sangiovanni
The Other by Thomas Tryon. I didn’t sleep for nights.
I was going to type-Harvest Home
Also, Harvest Home by Tryon.
Stories by MR James. Classic!
A Head Full of Ghosts
Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill and Black House by Stephen King/Peter Straub
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and Dracula by Bram Stoker
Bird Box by Josh Malerman is so creepy and good!
You definitely stole my suggestion! You have good taste. Great book
@Christopher ?
Bird box is on my tbr pile!
I liked bird box too
Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King??
I’m not sure your aesthetic tastes, but if you’re a fan of florid writing style and late 19th to early 20th century setting, HP LOVECRAFT is a-mazing.
I have mr. Mercedes it is on my tbr list
