A House In the Sky, Amanda Lindhout’s story.
I read a review and my interest was piqued…but I couldn’t bring myself to pick it up and read it…. one day I saw it at Chapters.. on sale. So I picked it up, sat in a chair, and thought I’d give it a try. 80 pages later, I bought the book. Finished it the next day. It’s beautifully written… amazing.

Senior moment here. Read your reply and said to myself, “I thought I read everything Celia Rivenbark has written,” then promptly googled Amazon for “Anything” by Celia Rivenbark. Imagine my disappointment when I couldn’t find it. Took my a couple of moments you meant anything (written) by Celia.

My favorite is “Truth and Beauty” by Anne Patchett. It’s about a friendship she has with another woman who is facially disfigured. That woman (Lucy Grealy) also wrote a fantastic memoir called “Autobiography of a Face”. So they’re kind of companion memoirs! So, so good.
