The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra. First in a series, and my favorite book of the year, the year I read it.
I’ve just discovered that my wife has the second book in the series on her bookshelf! Would it spoil it if I read it before the first in the series?
Definitely should read the first one first! It introduces you to Baby Ganesh!

The Maharajah mysteries by Arjun Gaind set in India of the 20’s and 30’s
Abir Mukherjee has written two books both excellent reads. A Rising Man and A Necessary Evil set in India at the time of The Raj.
A book on my TBR pile is, ‘A Fine Balance’ by Rohinton Mistry. I have seen it on quite a few ‘Recommended’ lists.
Not crime but I would certainly recommend the books of Amitav Ghosh. Particularly the Glass Palace.
