I do the stair stepper, treadmill on steep or the bike. It works better with books that you don’t have to read too deeply or ones that you have read before. Harry Potter is a good one for me but I’ll read young adult novels pretty easily. It works better if the font is a bit bigger but really just try it. It just helps pass the time since I don’t like listening to music while exercising.
I used to, but I would slow down so much when I got to the good parts that I wasn’t getting a workout, haha. I watch the Turner Classic Movies channel instead 🙂
If I’m on the elliptical or treadmill, yup! I suffer from motion sickness, but the key is to hold the book while you read and not to have it sitting on the machine.
Maybe audiobooks. I always listen to some good classic novel while running. Last one was Walden or life in the woods. Funnily, I was running close to the seashore.
I always have a separate book for reading at the gym. It’s always on a Kindle so I can increase the text size to make it easier for reading while moving. Sometimes I keep reading while I’m stretching, which, to be honest, is mostly me sitting at the gym with a book.
I never got into that
How come
Please tell me how you do this. I would love to read and exercise at the same time!

Reading while riding the bike works best for me!
Ansolutel
I used to take my kindle with me and put it on the treadmill. I actually would end up walking a lot more because I would get caught up in the book.
Audio books + Treadmill= my perfect way to work out!
Mine too
Lucky you. I get severe motion sickness If i ever try to read kindle while I move :'(

I slow down too if I try to read.
Is eating a work out? ??

You make the assumption some of us are graceful enough to hold onto the book while on a machine and not fall on our butt ?
@Leah haha good point!
I do audio books at the gym. I get motion sickness trying to read printed word while working out, otherwise.
I listen to audio books on my walks. Does that count?
That’s what I do and don’t listen to them any other time then you have to walk.

Used to till I took up yoga.
I read on my treadmill while doing High Intensity training! Better than music. Also, when doing weights, I read while resting between sets.
On the bike!

Audible books with Bluetooth headphones so I don’t have to slow anything down
I do a lot of listening while walking. The more exciting or interesting the book, the longer I walk.
I always run harder when I’m listening to something suspenseful ?
Reading on my treadmill is fun!?
Yep! I am a daily walker and I always have a audio book going. In the winter I read on the treadmill with my Kindle.
I have taken my book on the treadmill. I was in a walking contest and trying to reach my reading goal!
I haven’t even tried, I usually run, so I don’t think I could focus my sight
I have read will ride a stationary bike.
Maybe…
I would fall
Though 1.0?
I had just turned the machine on. It was at 1mph. (Because any faster while taking a picture and I would trip over myself)
I imagine, walking/ running and talking a picture while holding a book, I’m not a multitasker if you didn’t notice ?
Planning to do this — deciding on audio versus Kindle versus printed page. Will have to do all three to see what works 🙂
YES! Please keep us abreast of your findings.
I used to take a book for stepper/bike/treadmill in college, but now I prefer audiobooks
I listen to a book when I walk…
no. my preferred recreation is swimming, and I find it makes the pages soggy
Actually, I am going to give this a go today! We’ll see…….
