Ugh, multiple points of view. It’s okay, but I don’t want one like Jodi Picoult’s Nineteen Minutes. Too many POVs in a single chapter. It was confusing lol
Loved JodiPicoult’s Nineteen Minutes. A tough but important subject, well researched and beautifully written. In the same way, Mountains Echoed is an excellent and thought-provoking book even if emotionally intense. What seems at first like several stories is all part of the main storyline, showing the many repercussions an action can have.
You know, an year ago I was going through some real bad times, was drowning in depression. I left all my hobbies and things i loved to do. Even reading. But I read both these books during that time ( although initially i was reluctant ) and this was the only thing I did with my heart and felt satisfied. It didn’t help me in any way but i read 2 books and was satisfied even during those turbulent days tells the power these two masterpieces posses.
I went to SJSU and they did courses on his writing. He would speak there often as well, he was a big deal there…but I actually only recently picked up the Kite Runner. Loved it! Truly truly loved it.
When I get a chance I want to read his other books.
The Kite Runner was a book club book in high school and it surprised both me and the librarian with how good and deep it was. I did read A Thousand Splendid Suns a few years ago. Need to read his others.
I’ve only read A Thousand Splendid Suns (and yet to read The Kite Runner), and I’d say it’s one of my favorite books. ❤

Exactly! It broke my heart that they were unable to reestablish their relationship of loving siblings. That book sure made me cry.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Nineteen Minutes but I prefer stories with fewer povs.
