I’m embarrassed to admit I don’t know exactly what high fantasy is (even though I do live in Colorado ?) but I’ve really enjoyed the Patrick Rothfuss series called Kingkiller. There are two volumes out, and fans are anxiously awaiting for the third.
Thank you for the series info ☺️ High fantasy is something set in an alternative fictional world something like Lord of the Rings or books build in a different dimension
I’m always reluctant to suggest these books, because it feels like I’m stating the obvious… But… The Taran stories, Lloyd Alexander, The Black Cauldron, Book of Three, Taran Wanderer, etc… And as always, the Narnia books… Piers Anthony’s Xanth series is good and mostly lighthearted, try his Blue Adept series of you want something a little more hairy. Will warn you Anthony can push uncomfortable limits though. I’d have to say his Incarnations of Immortality was the one that pushed hardest at my limits. Try his collaboration with Robert Kornwise, a book called Through the Ice.
Mistborn – Brandon Sanderson The Kingkiller Chronicles – Patrick Rothfuss Half a King – Joe Abercrombie(I can’t remember the name of the series, but this is the 1st book) The Annals of the Western Shore – Ursula K. Le Guin
The Three or Fantasyland by Kristen Ashley, The Others by Anne Bishop – all the of these series are above average and entirely different from anything else paranormal out there, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I just realized that I forgot something from my own “backyard” so to speak. Namely The Witcher series plus the two books of short stories that come before that (The Sword of Destiny & The Last Wish) by Andrzej Sapkowski
The Mortal Instruments all series, Falling Kingdoms all series
