In the romance genre, I love the books by Jennifer Crusie. Welcome to Temptation is a good one to start with. Or maybe Bet Me. In the fantasy genre, I like the first several Xanth books by Piers Anthony. Start with A Spell For Chameleon. Also a fantasy, Magic Kingdom For Sale/Sold by Terry Brooks. And another fantasy, Poison Study by Maria V Snyder. For paranormal fiction, try Sunshine by Robin McKinley. For modern English fiction, try One Plus One by Jojo Moyes. For memoirs, try Jenny Lawson. For quirky fiction, try The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender. For superhero fiction, try Wearing the Cape by Marion G Harmon.
The All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness. Also, if you scroll down a bit there was a fairly recent thread about favorite series if you want even more recommendations:-)
The Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante
