I have to second this. Only bc I know Jim and he’s the absolute kindest man. Where he comes up with his dark, twisted ideas is baffling. Okay, not entirely baffling, but still.

And if you like Dresden, then I would also suggest Benedict Jacka’s books. In almost similar universe. There are also the Sandman Slim series.

Gene Wolf empire of the new sun is practically the definition of dark fantasy ! but it is what i consider a Intellectual book mot light reading ? Red Sister is bleek and Brutal age of iron Silagy was pretty brutal
