Depending on how “adult” you want to get, Piers Anthony has a few series that might work for ya… Xanth is pretty tame, and could be read by some folks as young as 10 or 12 depending on what parent’s think is appropriate. He has a kinda inbetweenish set that is probably too graphic for young readers, but any mid-older teen would be fine with it I’d say. His Adept and Incarnation series get pretty explicit though, and his Tarot world is just….Strange. The Adepts are probably my favorite of his fantasy work. He’s also got some realistic works like the Geodessy and the Tatham Mound but those are more historical fiction.

Ursula K. LeGuin–1st novel in series: “A Wizard of Earthsea.” Magic AND dragons.

But almost none of either and mostly a lot of nothing.
(I know that the majority of people will disagree. And I definitely respect your opinion. I read the entire quartet and it was just dull to me. It felt like a whole lot of nothing).

1
Jamie

That’s fine–I don’t expect everyone to like her writing. There are many popular writers today whose style I find annoying, even downright amateurish.

0
Jake

@Jamie Now that we can both agree on!

Try the House of Night series, there’s ritual and magic in it.

If it’s like twilight then no vampires. I didn’t care for the books

0

It’s a lot better than twilight. It’s about a vampire school. Twilight is shit. House of night is amazing
