Do you read her Nora Roberts too? I loved those and I’m afraid it’ll be too big a genre leap knowing it’s her… If that makes sense ?

1
Angel

makes total sense to me! I’m the same, have not read any Nora Roberts, I’m afraid there just Too much Romance for me 🙂

Angel

I’m more into mysteries and that’s the In Death series

I’ve some in the catalogue that came free with a series I got so I’ll dust them off tonight and see what it’s all about.

read Naked In Death first if you can, it’s the first. You can read them stand alone if you want but if you start from the beginning you get more backstory of course. If I decide on a Nora Roberts what one would you recommend?

The born in trilogy! I’m biased as am from ireland but I read these again from time to time. The collector was recent and very good, a mystery voyeur book might be good to ease you into them ?

Witty (Jewish) intermittently erotic (kinky), The Match Trick by Don Zacharia merits a mention (set in Westchester)
If you like Henry Miller or Philip Roth, you ought to like this

The most fabulous writer known to me lived in New York and all his works wreak of the place (imo) whether or not they are set there. Their other component is Yiddishkeit (which he epitomised as much as Chagall). Enjoy (what can I tell you)

Our book club is reading These Shallow Graves right now. It’s set in 1890s NYC and the MC is a rich girl who is trying to solve her father’s murder.

I really like the descriptions of the different rough neighborhoods and all the shady characters that she’s meeting. It’s especially well written because we get to see these events through her naivety.

For example: the reader can clearly tell she’s near a brothel. She has no idea what happens there – she just thinks it’s odd how many women are scantily clad and standing near the doorway.
