The Black Magicians Trilogy by Trudi Canavan- unsure of actually YA but I read when a teen and loved it
The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix is also fantastic

Sooo good! It’s a mix between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and all of the other amazing Fantasy series we love!

I know you said YA but the Black Jewel Trilogy is my favorite fantasy series. More fantasy romance but it reads like a YA
