@Angélica, what is that about? I like memoirs, learning about the history of our country, I’ve read quite a few books about the Kennedy’s and Queen Elizabeth. Pretty much anything that catches my interest. The same with fiction.

1
AngélicaQuestion author

@Elizabeth it talks about humans and our journey through history as species. History is fascinating!

@Tina what are you reading?

@Angélica I’m finishing up The Naughty 90s which is about sex in the 1990s from a sociological standpoint. Even though I grew up during that time period its so fun to read about how attitudes have evolved over time and what events really left their mark on western society ☺️☺️☺️

@Tina ? wow! Sounds interesting! I grew up in the 90’s too, it’s good looking back ??

@Ginger I don’t know much about them. Why are people so fascinated by them? Any books you recommend on them?

0
Elizabeth

@Ginger, I’ve read a lot about them. They were America’s first and only royal family but they had quite a curse in them.

1
Ginger

@Angélica, maybe because JKF was president the year I was born and then assinated a few months later. The family as a whole was so influential yet so corrupt. And most died unexpected tragic deaths. I will look up some of the better ones and PM you some titles.

1
Ginger

@Elizabeth, yes they did have a curse. They were “ our” royal family. So influential and yet so corrupt all at the same time.

1
AngélicaQuestion author

@Ginger Wow sounds interesting! Yes please let me know.

@Eric looks interesting!

1
Eric

@Angélica it is very interesting. It talks alot about how once you start acting a certain way (jealous, angry, skeptical etc.) Your body actually becomes addicted to the chemicals that your body releases when you feel that emotion. So even if you want to change your body will sabotage your efforts to change your ways. It’s pretty deep, and he backs it all up with science. ?

2
AngélicaQuestion author

@Eric where is he from? Is he a scientist? Never heard of him but sounds very interesting indeed!

0
Eric

@Angélica he is a neuroscientist, and a doctor. I was recommend this book on another book club in a thread about learning to meditate. This book is alot about meditating to get rid of unwanted fixed behaviors.

2
AngélicaQuestion author

@Eric Fair enough! ? I’ll check him out.

1
Eric

Awesome! I hope you get as much out of it as I am. I’ve been trying to change things up in my life, and be something greater than a mechanic. This book is helping out a lot!!

1
Ginger

@Eric , oh I must read this. I just finished two books on enneagrams and learned so much about our personality style and why we act and react the way we do.

2
AngélicaQuestion author

@Eric thank you! Good luck breaking bad habits and forming new, healthier ones. We all need that. ?

Yes! I love an interesting story, doesn’t necessarily have to be any particular category. Some of my favorites have been The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson, The Poisoner’s Handbook by Deborah Blum, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, The Wild Trees and The Hot Zone, both by Richard Preston, and Trapped Under the Sea by Neil Swidey.

I probably read 75 percent fiction, 25 percent nonfiction. I would probably read more nonfiction but I use my reading to stock my Free Little Library and I’m not sure my interests are everyone else’s.

1
Reply
AngélicaQuestion author

Yeah I think fiction would definitely be more attractive to people using your little library. Whatever you read the most important thing is to learn and enjoy. We all like different things.
