Ordinary Men is a non-fiction book about the German men who did a lot of the killing in WW2. It’s a VERY intense read but it gives an interesting look into the psychology of these men.
The Book Thief which has lots of haunting, very vivid passages not conveyed in any depth by the film, and Winter of the World, the second book in The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett. It relates directly and brilliantly to WW2, the first to WW1. The whole series is fantastic! ?
Tell Me Who I Am by Julia Navarro
Ruins of war is a good one it’s technically set in Germany almost right after world War 2 though
Non-fiction?
Yeah
Awesome. I also love nonfiction. Born survivors by Wendy Holden is a must read!!
And If I Perish by Evelyn Monahan. It’s about the nurses who served on the front lines in the European Theatre. I really enjoyed it.
Rogue Heroes by MacIntyre looks good. Its on my TBR list. It’s about the Brit Spec Ops who went behind enemy lines and sabatoged Hitlers troops.
Macintrye writes great books
The Cage, To Life, and The Holocaust Lady by Ruth Minsky Sender
Hampton Sides’ Ghost Soldiers and Bill Sloan’s Undefeated cover my pet topic; POW’s. Both focus on American soldiers captured by the Japanese.
