Thought it was beautifully written, but had some strong negative feelings about a few characters that ultimately made it sort of hard to read, but I’m still glad I read it. It is realistic, sometimes good people can suck or make bad choices (not spoiling, just saying it’s realistic to not be rosy and happy all the time).
Loved it. A dual narrative that tells the tale of how institutional racism tears people apart. I thought the characters were really well-written making decisions that were very realistic. I listened to it, and the dual narrators were fantastic.
I know a couple of people that struggled with it as well, simply because they couldn’t bond with any of the characters. TBH, this author is not one of my favorites, but this is my favorite by her so far.
That might be it. I will say when it was written in letter form I LOVED it..I devoured those letters but then it changed and now I think I just want more letters.
