Same. Plus I hate running down my phone it’s always dead when a call comes in lol.

I want to be able to read but also let my 5yr old watch videos on it at like the dr office or on car rides that are really far.

Same. My phone dies so quickly, and I fall asleep with my phone on way to much. I totally understand, I let my younger cousin use my phone for the same reasons. Which kindle we’re you looking at?

The cheapest one on Amazon. It’s the kindle fire 7in. Is 49.99 new or 39.99 refurbished

@Meagan I have the 8 HD and love it; I am not sure what the 7 is like though.

@Muffy I have heard great things about the Oasis. I also have a paperwhite that I love.

@Melissa so have I.. I think I might get for myself as a birthday gift. Plus I can do payments so it shouldn’t hurt my bank to much lol.

@Muffy Happy birthday. Plus the beautiful thing about the Oasis is that I believe they are waterproof now; so beach reading and bathtub reading.

Oh, why thank you!☺️ Yes, they are, I just read it on amazon. I love waterproof electronics, I’m clumsy so they are very much appreciated in my household.

Nay. I think the Kindle is a better choice for reading.

Can you get on YouTube from a kindle

Kat

No. Kindle is really just for ebooks, which it’s great at. The Fire is more like a crappy tablet. We bought a couple for the kids and they were so clunky the kids don’t want to bother with them.

You can’t read it in the sun FYI (poolside)

Fire is a tablet not an e-reader. You can read books on it and it’s okay if you need to use it for other apps but the screen is nowhere as nice for reading as a designated kindle like a paperwhite.

Depends. If you are looking for tablet capabilities -apps, video, etc, it’s a good little tablet. If you’re looking for reading only, go with a Paperwhite.

It depends on how you want to use it. I have used my sons Fire 7 to read and it works well, I also use it to brows the internet and watch YouTube. If I’m planning to read outside, on vacation, I use my Kindle Voyager because there is zero glare… but all you can do on it is read.

I like mine. I do most of my reading on it, but only indoors. Too much glare otherwise.

Go for 8 instead. Longer battery life is better, i think.
