YA is Young Adult where the protagonist is aged between 13-18 ish.

NA is New Adult which is where the protagonist is aged 18-30 ish.

Ya is also aimed at young adults but of course any age can read it, the writing is usually different to adult books and theres less sexually graphic scenes

That’s not entirely true. YA is for people leaving their teens and so often deals in things they are old enough to be interested in, like sex and violence.

If everyone will allow me to put forward an opinion on this, and I hope I’m not stepping on any toes here, but I have to be honest, this NA rubbish really annoys me. New Adult has emerged because bored housewives and foolish, controlling men complained that YA novels were filled with sex and violence and they believed that this is wrong. They mistakenly focused on the word Young, believing this fiction was for teens, utterly failing to recognise the meaning of the word Adult. This stuff is for people who have reached the early stages of adulthood, who are now ready to learn about the violence of crime, the past cruelty of religion, the intricacies of religious faith, the details of political gibberish, and the beauty and complexity of sex and adult relationships without any of the filters from childhood. This age group continues into 25, not 18. NA only came about because people believed YA folk were teens and were too young for adult stuff, which is incorrect.

Sincere apologies for the rant.
YA forever.
