I didn’t attempt Fifty Shades and got to the end of Gone Girl and Pilgrim and found their plots interesting but neither enjoyable!

I couldn’t get into the book at all. Tried twice and got to the same spot however lots of people told me to get passed that point because after was great…but I couldn’t was very bored. However went to see it at the cinema and is a great film. Loved the film. You should definitely see it x

It was disappointing after all its hype. Ending fell flat.

I did enjoy it. I didn’t particularly warm to the characters but I found the psychological aspect of the story interesting and obviously Amy s account had flaws in it but fundamentally I felt the book was trying to say we are the product of our upbringing and that our early years and beliefs can scar us for life. Our parents have the ability to influence our behaviour long knit adult life. Still preferred Blue Eyed Boy though.

Here was the review I wrote on Goodreads:

Two Wack Jobs
You never know what goes on behind closed doors. Sure every marriage has its share of manipulation and if it’s a bad marriage, look out! But Nick and Amy Dunne’s bad marriage is so diabolical that I had to wonder a little about the sanity Gillian Flynn, the author. What a wonderfully fiendish imagination! Both Nick and Amy are so incredibly and deliciously deranged, their personalities actually come to life. It‘s like watching real people in real time. There’s very little I can say about the actual storyline, as this thriller has so many plot twists it would be a shame to spoil it. Suffice it to say, Gone Girl is a love story gone awry.
The rollercoaster of excitement is mind-blowing. That slow burn in your belly as you inch your way closer and closer to the top and when you finally get to the crest and your anticipation is at its peak ready to plunge into what should be the most thrilling section, the electricity goes out and the ride crawls to a disappointing halt. Something terribly sad happened at the end of this book, the author got lazy. This story could have had so many incredibly satisfying endings, but this wild ride fizzled and instead of leaving me limp, panting and completely satiated, I felt unsatisfied, cheated and angry. “What the **** was that?,” were my exact words when it was over? Fabulous book, apathetic ending. Shame.

Yes strange ending. I imagined they stayed together in their sham of a life. She obviously needed him otherwise she could have easily killed him. She had no real thoughts or feelings for anyone but herself. Narcissistic personality type.

I have it on hold both digital and physical and there is a long waiting list for both. It can’t be that bad.

The beginning is great, a bit insane, but really good. The end really fizzled through (for me). Haven’t seen the movie, I wonder if Hollywood changed the ending. I can’t imagine they would have left it like the book.

No, I sort of liked the movie but much too far fetched for me and so have not bothered to read the book! think very over rated!

I agree with Ashley Miller but I thought the film was good. I don’t usually like films after I have read the book.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but do want to – just to see how the acting is (would be hard roles to play) and if the ending is the same.

I didn’t care for the crafting of the story, the characters were inconsistent, and I never understood why it was at the top of best sellers list. No depth
