Trying to decide between Harry Potter and The Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov that I read when I was much younger and loved. Really want to read Odd Thomas now after seeing it in here.
So hard – being a fantasy nerd, most books come in series. I’d say Rings but it’s not really a series (we could debate if it is 1, 3 or 7 books till the cows come home). Two series spring to mind that I go it into and waited for the next ones – High Cook’s “Chronicles of an Age of Darkness”, and Steve Erikson’s “Malazan book of the Fallen”, both of which I love. But there are so many others…
Darren shan’s , zom b. The story is so gripping and you cant wait to grab the next book to find out what happens. Its mainly aimed at being a teen series so its not for everyone
Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer – listen on CD if you can – the librarians in my old community used to call first dibs when a new one came into the library collection. Young Adult but who cares? Probably after that, I really liked the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series even though quite intense. Also like No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency…
The Sookie Stackhouse series. Just fun, interesting reads. Not one of them is disappointing. Great characters, nice plot twists, two day reads. Highly recommend.
Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander and Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series are certainly favorites of mine too. But I have to add: Gabaldon’s Lord John series, that I think I like even more than Outlander, Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental World Series, Deborah Crombie’s Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James series and last but definitely not least – Adrian McKinty’s Sean Duffy series. If I am ever stranded on a desert island with my iphone and a convenient way to keep it charged, those series are the Audible books I hope I have downloaded before I lose my network connection. I can listen to them forever and never be bored.
