Ok. But I made the mistake if reading it shortly after the Nightingale and while not the same premise, I couldn’t help but compare the two books. So I was a little biased.
Loved it. Slow, descriptive, deep character backgrounds. It makes you smile and makes you cry. Have you read it or are you deciding whether to buy it or not?
I was the only one in my book club that didn’t love this book. Found it over written (took Doerr 10 yrs to write; think it would have been better if he was done in 2). I found the arbitrary changes in perspective (time voice) annoying & not adding to the story…
I could not get through this book. I just thought it was way too long and honestly, somewhat boring. It was really hard for me to follow, and I feel it could have been much shorter.
