Except for the pretty hardbacks that sit on my shelf looking…. well, pretty. ? For holding in my hand reading? Definitely prefer paperback.

Oh, I’ll read them, even own them. Often, though, if I have a hardback in my collection, I’ll buy the paperback version (usually at a library sale) and pass the other along. I know the hardbacks are worth more… but to me, the value isn’t monetary.

I love hardbacks but I also LOVE big thick books, so the paperbacks are definitely easier to manage in bed. But they DO need to be BOOKS… the kind with paper, ink, a sumptuous cover… and that lovely smell.

Oh, man: pretty much anything with words between two covers works for me. I did learn, though, when reading books in the pool while lounging in a floating lounge chair, it better be paperbacks: if you fall asleep and drop the book, the hard cover books just don’t dry right! ?
