A while ago I asked about classic books, now I am going to ask, what were some books that you had to read in school or remember from school!

At primary school (age 4 – 11) I was just allowed to read whatever I wanted, but at secondary school we had set books; some of the ones I can remember are Carrie’s War & The Outsiders, but the others must have made so little impact on me that I can’t remember them! We did a lot of Shakespeare, and then for GCSEs (standard tests at age 16) I did Wuthering Heights & Ghosts by Ibsen, as well as Measure for Measure (Shakespeare). My A’Levels (tests at age 18) were more memorable: A Handmaid’s Tale, Silas Marner, A Passage to India, King Lear, & The Heart of Darkness.

Animal Farm and All Quiet on the Western Front are the only 2 books I read in school ? I didn’t like being told what to read as a teen -very rebellious ?
