Is it this predictable the whole way through? From chapter 2 i found it very obvious that Ove’s wife had died and he planned on hanging himself. I mean i don’t particularly mind, it’s an easy enough read but i just wondered if there are any twists worth waiting for?

There is definitely more waiting for you. Relax. Stop trying to guess everything and just let the story unfold.

It’s a lovely story. Keep going.

Amanda Eisermann Bernazal im not trying to guess, it just seemed obvious. I think because ive seen it compared to Eleanor where i didn’t expect the ending i thought this would be similar whereas this writing style seems to “reveal” it like its something you shouldn’t know when i thought it was quite clear. Just found it odd.

It was predictable but still enjoyed it

Not as predictable as you think. I loved the book

I think this was less about revealing information to help us understand the character (like Eleanor) as it is about the evolution of Ove’s character. I didn’t think there were many surprises, but I loved the book ❤️

Predictable or not the story is his journey through his misery and where it takes him, who he meets, and how they influence each other. The story is in the relationships. Enjoyed “his” story very much.

I loved this book. Could I easily figure out what was coming next? Most of the time, yes, but I still adore this book and Ove.

I put this book down. I know everyone raves about it, but I just could not get into it. Or beartone either

At that point I put the book away. I don’t like the writing style, I see where the story goes so the book has nothing to give me really.

@Jo me neither but someone on here told me and my library stocked it in Swedish with English subtitles and it was nearly as hilarious as the book

I don’t know how long ago I read this and I still miss Ove. He is one of my favorites ever.
