Harry Potter. Couldn’t tell you why. I’ve planned to read it for years yet still have not done so.

Me too. I think it’s because I know I’ll get sucked in and end up reading all the books in some crazy marathon of ignoring my family. Lol

You will get sucked in, for sure, @Tara! I can’t believe I waited until last year…and I’m such a fan now. I would love to start them over again right now but I have too many other things waiting. Definitely going to do it at some point, though.

When you do start, Liz, don’t let the first two books discourage you. The story matures a great deal with Goblet of Fire, then dramatically with Order of the Phoenix. Sooo worth reading!!

I am sure that I will get sucked RIGHT in! 🙂 My husband read them and consumed them one right after another.

I started them in 7th grade! By then the first 3 books were out. I then had to wait for each release. I was a new mom to an infant when Deathly Hallows came out… stayed up all night reading it. Probably not a good idea. Lol.

The city of bones series.. Just seems sooooooo long! Lol

Try Colleen Hoover or Tarryn Fisher.

I will. Once I move and get settled in. I bought a nice rocking recliner for my reading corner lol

I had the same misgivings getting started, but once I got through the first few chapters I enjoyed it. I wouldn’t say it’s the best book series I’ve ever read (by far), but it was still good. I’ve been reading books between because I want to read them all and see what happens with my favorite characters, but it hasn’t sucked me in, like say…. A Song of Ice and Fire. I still recommend it though because it is an enjoyable read.

I loved the first book but somehow have never moved on to the others. I want to, though.

The Chronicles of Nick. I don’t know why lol I love Sherrilyn Kenyon, and I need to read them, I just keep putting it off.

That is one I have to read to!

They are sooooo good!! It isn’t like her other works because they’re YA, and she does a phenomenal job of writing for the age group. It can be a little confusing at first as it doesn’t match with what we already know from the D-H world, but there’s a reason for that, and she explains it early on so you’re not left saying Whaaaat?!?! lol You meet a lot of great new characters, as well as hang out again with some beloved old friends. I adored and sympathized with Nick from reading the D-Hs, but CON just endeared him to me more. A MUST READ!

1
Heather

Hmmm… That reads like I should have posted it on Goodreads. lol

Jennifer

Lol! I love Nick. I bought the first two books, I just haven’t started them yet.

1
Heather

Chop, chop! lol Just playing. Let me know when you read them if you enjoyed it or not. ?

Jennifer

I’ve been trying to figure out what to read this weekend, maybe I’ll finally start it lol. I can’t wait for Nicks DH book. I’ve heard there’s supposed be like 9 CON of Nick, then his DH book.

2
Heather

Ah! Me too! I can’t wait to see how she brings it all together.

0
Jennifer

Alright @Heather I started it tonight lol. I’m curious if these books cross over the events that happened in the DH books? Or are they all just leading up to what’s already happened? For some reason I thought Nick didn’t know he was the Malachi until the thing with his mom happened, but I’m probably remembering wrong. I feel sad reading it when I already know what happens to him haha

2
Heather

You’re remembering correctly. Spoiler alert! In case you don’t want to read it… (Though I’m not telling you anything you won’t find out soon, and it shouldn’t ruin the story.)

The reason the events aren’t matching up is because Ambrose (grown Malachi Nick) is tampering with time trying to fix the things that went wrong before they went wrong. I can’t remember how far into CON it is before that’s explained, but a lot of reviews and comments on Sherry’s fb page said they never caught the reference and explanation. It’s been a while since I read it, but seems like young Nick was hearing a voice talking to him (or something like that), and that’s Ambrose. This is what I was talking about that I can’t wait to see how she brings it all together. The changes he made vs what we already know.

2
Jennifer

I was just reading about it lol! I did catch in the prolouge where it said “this is how things should have been.” I wondered about that. I saw the voice once already, I thought it might be Ash lol. It does seem confusing lol she’s written so much and things seem to change it’s hard to keep track of sometimes. I saw there are actually supposed be 14 CON books! I think we’ll be waiting a while for his DH book lol

1
Heather

I know, and his is one of the ones I can’t wait for! Nick has always been one of my favorite characters.

1
Heather

And seems like it gets easier to follow after the first book because that’s the one she’s laying it all out in. Maybe it was more 1/2 way through the first book. I’ve been debating a full D-H reread. lol Though I may skip the ones I didn’t particularly care for this time around. lol

Jennifer

I know I’ve always loved Nick. Now that I know what’s going on, I’m not so confused. I was reading it and I was surprised they were talking so much about the Malachi. I’m thinking I either remember things from DH very wrong, or I’m just confused lol. It will definitely be interesting to see how it all works out. I hope she has an actual plan and hasn’t written herself into a corner with this time changing stuff. So many questions

Heather

I completely agree! At least we’re half way there. Book 7 will be released in May.

0
Jennifer

Has she been doing them just 1 a year? That’s so long to wait. I’ll be almost 40 by then :/

0
Heather

Seems like it’s just one a year, but with as many series as she releases in a year, I’m grateful for one in each a year. lol I’m looking forward to Deadman’s Cross!

1
Jennifer

Me too, I’d love a good pirate story. I hope it’s good. I’ve been pretty disappointed with her last few books.

1
Heather

Good to know it wasn’t just me! I haven’t even read Dragonbane yet because I wasn’t thrilled with Son of No One. I’m afraid DHs have run their course, and it’s time to close out the series. There are a few more stories I really want to know (Nick, Jared, Thorn, Savitar, etc… You know, the characters that have been showing up all the way through), but not if she can’t do them justice. Anyway, that’s nothing but opinion. lol I’m hoping something fresh like Deadman’s Cross will get it going again.

1
Jennifer

No not just you. I completely agree. Dragonbane was alright, but not great. I think you are right, it’s time to wrap it up. It has gotten so far from what it used to be. I think once she gets to Nick’s book, it will need to end soon after that. Her League series has been disappointing too. The last one was pretty bad. I guess one of the main bad guys is pulling a Styxx and getting a huge book on why he’s not actually bad. It was perfect with Styxx, but it’s disappointing she’s using the same trope again. I’m on the fence about finishing CON. Now that I know what’s going on with it, and how long it’s going to take to wrap up, I think I’ll wait.

0
Heather

I agree. I was so disappointed with Maris’ story I haven’t read any more of The League. Waiting may be a good idea with CON since it’s going to be a while. Then you can binge on it once it’s complete.

I want to reread all of them in the order that they were written, there are a lot of crossovers so I am not sure which why to read them in.

0
Heather

I read Dark-Hunters, Were-Hunters, and Dream Hunters all together and in order of publication like one long series. Are those the crossovers you mean, @Megan?

0
Megan

Yes @Heather, I tried once but had a bad list

0
Heather

Have you looked on her website? It’s very user friendly, and under Book Series she has all of her series laid out and in reading order. Goodreads is a good place for a list too. The only thing I would suggest is starting with Fantasy Lover instead of Night Pleasures. Fantasy Lover isn’t technically a Dark-Hunter book, but has characters that show up all through the series. Sorry if you know all that already since you’re wanting to reread. ?

Megan

The one I got that was bad was from goodreads, I was mad and stopped and then didn’t pick it up again.

0
Jennifer

I don’t know if you found one yet, but this is a good list. It doesn’t have the last few new ones but it’s a good start. http://aestasbookblog.com/darkhunter/

Anna Karenina. It’s been in my shelf for ages but I’m not sure I’ll enjoy it
