These are the two that just popped into mind but there are plenty more since I am a reading teacher. Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor and Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli.

Remember Me by Mary Higgins Clark

I so wanted to name my child Menleigh Nicole after the character in the book (Menley Nichols) but my husband wouldn’t go for it. I haven’t read it since I’ve had my kids though, because she’s a mom… and things affect me differently now!
