90% of the books I read are crime, psychological thrillers although I do read others. Does anyone here only read crime books?
90% of the books I read are crime, psychological thrillers although I do read others. Does anyone here only read crime books?
Me
Marion Keyes and Australian thrillers.
I would say 95% of what I read is crime, @Audrey xx
I only read crime
I’ll read anything but on my kindle I only read crime. If it’s a paperback I’ll read owt!
Now and again I read something different to crime, just for a break
Yes
Largely crime but dip into horror fairly regularly and less regularly something totally different (Book Thief, A Man Called Ove etc)
About 90% crime and psychological xx
I tried to make myself read a non – crime novel recently just to widen my genre – beyond bored… ??? (That wasn’t the title btw!)
I am plowing through Black caviar cause it cost a heap to buy!
Actually @Donna I’ve just remembered 2 books I did enjoy this year that weren’t crime related, I think it’s just that this other one nearly caused a coma!! ??
@Ali i hear ya
Sometimes deviate from crime and read a chic lit but not often
Same for me
Have had a break from crime/ psych crime for a long time now. I was not really suspensed/ surprised anymore. But if you can name one from the top of your head that surprised/ suspensed you even though you have read a ton I’d be most grateful because I love the genre.
Firstly Candice FOX. And anything she does. Love her stuff. Another Aus – Green Light.
@Donna Thx ? (is the last sentence the titel or another aussie or ?
I agree. I read several psychological thrillers earlier in the year that didn’t do it for me so had to take a break from them.
@Camilla author candice fox. Her books are fantastic. Moves fast.
Green light a title of the book i am reading at the moment. Australian serial killer thing. But a documentary-fiction-podcast thing. Sort of enjoying it.
@Donna ah yes! Will look out for it. Btw Just heard Teachers Pets – as a pod cast. Far out, sad and interesting.
@Susan me too. I think it’s probably the same books x
I used to read a lot of fantasy. I still read horror from time to time. Got really into chick lit in my early twenties, but can’t bare the thought of it now!
Can you recommend some good horror ? ( yes chick litt – been there read that).
You can’t go wrong with Stephen King.
Clive Barker is good too. Sort of a Horror/fantasy mix. Weaveworld is brilliant. Probably the best book I’ve ever read.
Yes, I do x
I read whatever takes my fancy x
I read mostly Crime, psychological thriller – the more twisted the better really. However, every now and then I like to pick up something different as a bit of light relief. X
Mostly crime/psychological thrillers etc but will read suggestions and try other genres. Absolutely love Eleanor Oliphant for instance.
Valerie, have you read 600 Hours of Edward by Craig Lancaster? x
Overwhelmingly crime, with a bit of travel writing!
Only crime and thrillers. I can’t get into anything ‘Light’ anymore.
I’m probably 95% crime etc but every once in a while I need something different which is what I’m reading at the moment!
Mostly crime and thrillers but do make myself read other genres occasionally and usually enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone!
The last non-crime thriller book I read was A Street Cat Named Bob and I thoroughly enjoyed it ?
70/29 Crime and kitchen sink dramas….1% Amish love stories (my dirty little secret) 😀
I tend to read mostly crime books, but also once in a while read classics to rest my brain from all the murder and mayhem 😀
Same as you. 90% crime with the 10% horror.
Probably about 99% crime related books
What’s the 1% @Craig?
@Audrey some autobiography and Oor Wullie and The Broons
Brilliant
@Craig love thr Broons and Oor Wullie. Here.s my special notebook
That’s brilliant @Liz
I have needed to cut down on psycho thrillers a bit, I am still reading them inbetween others but was finding them a bit same-ish, still enjoying crime and police series, family saga’s and historical fiction.
Mostly crime! But then, writing and reading it, my mind sometimes craves a break and that 10% of my me loves authors like Tammy Robinson, Jojo Moyes and @Callie and books like Why Mummy Drinks. Palette cleansers I call them!
Charlie and Pearl, @Tara ???? loved that book. Why Mummy Drinks made me laugh sooo much xx
@Audrey exactly ?? Sometimes I need a good ugly cry or a laugh and then I’m settled for another few months of all criminal behaviour. These books are once in a blue moon for me, but they’re needed. X
99% crime for me. The remaining 1% are recipes ! No. No connection lol ?
Mostly crime but deviate to anything Amanda Prowse writes ?
I’m the exact same @Maria xx
Mostly crime, however, I make an exception for Tracie Delaney’s books. Wonderful romances that are always suspenseful, she creates fabulous characters. You’d love them @Audrey. xx
I’ll definitely have a look at them @Mel xxx
You’ll be hooked, lovely. xx
I mainly read horror, forensic, thrillers
I read all sorts but my favourite authors are crime/thriller writers
Horror
Me mostly …nearly always only crime, psychological thrillers, murder, mystery & suspense. ..❤❤❤??
I do.
Definitely mostly crime but i read some Young Adult too -although mostly with a crime theme to them.
Mainly crime and thrillers …sometimes a funny by Nick Spalding etc to lighten the mood .
Yes with one exception – the book club I joined seems to shy away from crime – I read the choice but have found myself thinking “shoot this character, I hate them” ???
-80%, -20% nonfiction, other fiction..
Only English set ones.
No, I take a break now and then, and mix it up. 🙂
