Im not sure if you’ve read any Joe Hill yet, but im a big horror geek and i recently got into him. Ive read NOS4ATU (which was decent) and Heart Shaped Box (which i loved). All of his books get great reviews.

@Jillian I haven’t read any Joe Hill yet but definitely want to. I think the only reason I haven’t is because I’ve struggled on which book of his to read first. The two you mentioned are definitely the ones that come up the most though so I will probably start with one of those. Thank you! 🙂

Everyone else loved NOS4A2, so don’t let my comment dissuade you, i just didn’t really like the main character so it fell a little flat. I want to read the fireman next! Its so hard to find real horror, and not just suspense lol good luck!

I’ve read both of these. Heart Shaped Box was amazing and NOS4R2 was good.

@Jillian Agreed! Books will say they’re horror but then you’re like umm pretty sure that was suspense. Not horror. Which I still enjoy but it is disappointing when you were expecting something a little more horrific.

@Rebecca Okay yeah I will definitely start with those two. Thank you! 🙂

NOS4R2 is coming out as a movie with Zachary Quinto ( Spock from Star Trek) Supposed to be terrifying.

@John I have shelves and shelves of both Stephen King and Dean Koontz. They’re two of my favorite authors. So will definitely continue grabbing books from my shelves as I’m feeling it. Peter Straub is one I’ve wanted to read. What book would you recommend I read?

@Shelby Get a copy of Ghost Story. It’s a good introduction to Straub.

Anything from Jack Ketchum (The Girl Next Door is super disturbing and Joyride is really gory – lots of murder lol).
Naomi’s Room by Jonathan Aycliffe scared the bejeezus out of me and I do NOT scare easily with books.

Jasper Black is an indie author and a friend of mine.

His Demon Gentleman series is hilarious with sass and gore/horror.

He is also working on a side project. I highly recommend. The first book is called Swallow You Whole.
