25503036Devil and the Deep (Deep Six #2) by Julie Ann Walker

Romantic suspense, mass market paperback, 384 pages; expected publication: July 5, 2016 by Sourcebooks Casablanca; source: publisher

Why can’t I be rescued by a hot ex-Navy Seal? My life is just so boring. Maddy, on the other hand, has all the adventure (though it involves death and guns…I’d like to avoid that). Fast-paced, plenty of heat. 3.5 stars

23638956The Ones We Trust by Kimberly Belle

Mystery/romance, paperback, 304 pages; published July 28, 2015 by Mira; source: publisher

Twisty mystery with a strong, interesting journalist MC who I could really get behind. Slow build in both unraveling the mystery and in romance. Well worth the read. 4 stars

22873160Falling For Danger (Capital Confessions #3) by Chantel Cleeton

Romantic suspense, Kindle edition; published September 15, 2015 by InterMix; source: publisher

Enjoyed the heroine, didn’t love the hero (not enough character development). First book in series rocked. This one…just okay. Plus, plot holes and a rushed ending just killed me. 2.5 stars

22307920About a Girl (A Girl #1) by Lindsey Kelk

Romance, paperback, 416 pages; published April 14, 2015 by Harper; source: publisher

I would totally jump at the chance to take pics in Hawaii! Our heroine also has two hotties after her (not a bad triangle — a fun one!) and is plenty goofy enough for lots of shenanigans. 4 stars

51bnJnariUL._SX305_BO1,204,203,200_Softer Than Steel (Love and Steel #2) by Jessica Topper

Romance, Kindle edition, 366 pages; published September 15, 2015 by InterMix; source: publisher

Great banter, sizzling connection between two characters. More mature rocker recovering from a devastating loss meets centered yoga instructor (get it? lol). Highly enjoyable. 4 stars

  1. I read Louder Than Love (the book before Softer Than Steel) and really enjoyed it. May have to check it out. I tried my library for The Ones We Trust because it definitely sounds like my kind of read but it’s not there! *sobs* May have to break down and buy it. I tried Julie Ann Walker’s first book in her Deep Six series and didn’t care for her writing. I had to DNF it. Oh, well. The cover is pretty scrumptious, though! πŸ™‚ Great Short & Tweet reviews.

P.S. Didn’t know about Curtis Sittenfeld’s article. Now I don’t feel so bad for my negative review. The book was awful so be glad you bypassed it!

  2. I felt similarly about Falling for Danger. I loved the first book in the Capital Confessions series but than i felt like the series quickly went downhill. It was definitely a bummer.
