Top Off Tuesday: Snapshot of 2014 reads

Posted 6 January, 2015 | Mary @ TheBookSwarm | Review | 10 Comments

I’m pretty damn proud of “winning” the 2014 Goodreads reading challenge I set for myself — exceeding it, actually. I set a goal of 170 but hit 202 (and I know I missed a bunch of books, too). So, instead of focusing on one single Top Off Tuesday cover, I’m doing a couple of snapshots of the some of lovely covers — both topless and topped — that I read last year. My reread of everything Nalini Singh was definitely filled with ToT fabulousness…

It’s pretty cool how Goodreadsย sorts the books you read each year, and I’ve really enjoyed looking back at what I read. Some, I remember fondly. Some, I don’t even really remember (ah, the burdens of having an overloaded brain!). I hit a bunch of genres and categories, too, including romance, new adult, young adult, fantasy, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, science fiction and some nonfiction thrown in for good measure. This year? We’ll see. Lots of good stuff coming down the turnpike.

What was your top genre of last year? Any predictions about your top genre of this year? As for me, I really don’t know! It depends on my mood and the books. I’m thinking it might be fantasy, though. But I’m open. As it should be. ๐Ÿ™‚

Just one more thing…a “random” resolution from an online generator (hey, it made me laugh!):

  1. That’s a fine resolution! lol

I was kind of genre-less last year. I bounced around a lot. I would like to squeeze in more paranormal/urban fantasy this year. They’re getting harder to find though.

  2. A noble resolution to be sure ๐Ÿ˜‰

LOVE the Psy Changeling series so much Mary! I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve read Kiss of Snow. Just know it’s embarrassingly high. I love Hawke and Sienna so much:) I think it might be time for a reread of Lucas and Sasha though, it’s been a while since I’ve read them!

  3. Ha ha! What a great resolution. I missed my goal for the first time this past year. I only read 191 and wanted to read 200. I guess if I had read a bunch of novellas or counted all the middle grade chapter books I read to my kids I would have met it, but I had to take some time off this summer and I cut back a bit so I am okay with that. I like looking back too. And yes you are right some are good and others I like less looking back. Here’s to some great reads in 2015.

  4. Haha I love that resolution! I think my biggest genre was fantasy last year, and given the series I’m trying to catch up on, and the amazing 2015 fantasy lists I’ve glimpsed so far, I think it’s going to be my genre this year too.
