Do It In 140: Tweet-Short Reviews (7)

Posted 9 October, 2014 | Mary @ TheBookSwarm | Review, Tweet-Short Reviews | 43 Comments

I read fast. Like, super-fast. A book or two a day fast (when I have time, that is. It’s been greatly reduced lately). Because of that superpower, I’m always behind on my reviews, with no chance of ever catching up… except if I do a bunch of short reviews at a time and, taking inspiration from Twitter, do it in just 140 characters. Now, I’m not the first or only one to do this: check out Karen @ For What It’s Worth’s Short and Tweet reviews and TweetViews run by three librarians.

18141688Midnight Pursuits (Killer Instincts #4) by Elle Kennedy

(Romantic Suspense, 368 pages, April 2014, Signet)

Like that she’s the “older” woman (albeit not by that much), just as deadly/capable as he is. Fab banter, hot smexytimes. Excellent pairing.

17926006Accidentally Married On Purpose (Love and Games #3) by Rachel Harris

(Contemporary Romance, 266 pages, July 2014, Entangled: Bliss)

Oops to drinking too much and winding up married but, hey, you’re hot so let’s make the most of it! Heh. Great chemistry, funny banter as they decide if it can last.

perfect together_front mech.inddPerfect Together (Serendipity’s Finest #3) by Carly Phillips

(Contemporary Romance, 320 pages, February 2014, Berkley)

Ah, small town romances with plenty of humor and quirky characters. And Carly Phillips does them so incredibly well. Nicole and Sam make one sexy couple. *fans self*

18339761Heated (Most Wanted #2) by J. Kenner

(Erotic Romance, 416 pages, June 2014, Bantam)

Loved Julie Kenner’s other novels so decided to give this new venture a spin. VERY hot and a pretty darned good story to boot. Not sure if I’ll read the rest but an enjoyable departure.

18594538Fool Me Twice (If Only…#1) by Mandy Hubbard

(YA Romance, 272 pages, May 2014, Bloomsbury Childrens)

Haven’t we all wanted a second chance at something? Hubbard’s romance gives Mack another chance with the boy she thinks she loves. Cute if a little simple.

21898366What To Do With a Bad Boy (The McCauley Brothers #4) by Marie Hart

(Contemporary Romance, 384 pages, November 2014, Sourcebooks Casablanca)

Delilah is fabulous! Tatted, foul-mouthed, she knows what she wants–Mike, who just wants to do right by his son. Great banter, hooked me from the start.

  1. I am SUCH a big fan of hot banter, so there is no way I’m not checking out What to Do With a Bad Boy and Accidentally Married on Purpose. Perfect Together sounds swoonworthy too. Fab twitter reviews Mary! 🙂

(ps – about 50% chance of this comment getting eaten because all my recent comments here have gone to some kind of comment timeout/limbo instead of going through, but what they heck, I’ll try anyway. I’m stubborn :D)

  2. Let me state again how floored I am by the number of books you read Mary. And that’s coming from someone who also reads a lot of books. But you do a fair number of these tweet reviews (which I adore), and they always feature at least 5 books. I can’t even imagine reading so many books that I need to include 5 in a single post. I bow down to your reading speed my friend 😉

  3. What an awesome idea! I’m terrible at staying in the 160 characters range, but such a creative idea. 🙂 Supper great for those books you love to much to review! (If that makes any sense…)

  4. Midnight Pursuits sounds good. Love romantic suspense and a capable woman. They accidentally got married? Reminds me of that Ashton Kutchor/Cameron Diaz movie a few years back which was pretty funny. Small town romances are a favorite for me as well so I’ll have to check out Perfect Together. Wonderful Short & Tweet reviews, Mary! Gosh, you do read fast, don’t you?!

  5. Not familiar with any of these books, but the Accidentally Married one looks good to me. Actually so does Midnight Pursuits!

  6. Ooo, “heated” had me adding the first Kenner book–I hadn’t even heard of her before, but the ratings are very promising! And man, I read the first McCauley Brothers book and thought it was cute, but didn’t really have the urge to pick up the others. Seeing your high rating for book 4, though…

I just had to come by and check out your tweet style reviews since Anna mentioned them during her shout out to you. Nice to meet you, btw! Lovely site, Mary!

Oh and these are great mini reviews. I’m awestruck. I barely function on Twitter b/c of the mandatory low word count.
