Pre-Squee: Court of Fives by Kate Elliott

Posted 17 September, 2014 | Mary @ TheBookSwarm | Pre-Squee | 15 Comments

Welcome to the Pre-Squee, a weekly feature here at The Book Swarm and the Bewitched Bookworms. Some books, though they might not be coming out for a few months, need an early squee — we just can’t hold in our excitement about them! Sure, we’ll do full reviews closer to the release date but this feature gives us a chance to share a little bit of our love, whether it be for the story, cover, characters, or whatever. We’re quite flexible in our book love.

Monday, author Kate Elliott posted this on her Twitter account:
Screen Shot 2014-09-16 at 11.56.01 AMY’all. Court of Fives by Kate Elliott is one of my Most Wanted of 2015. Why?

First off, Kate Elliott rocks. She writes mainly adult fantasy (her Spiritwalker trilogy is fantastic!) but this one is young adult, scheduled to publish in June 2015 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

Second, while there’s not a full blurb, the teaser reads, “Little Women meet the Count of Monte Cristo in a fantasy world loosely inspired by Greco-Roman Egypt.” Oh, HELLZ, yeah.

Third, I’m dying to know the symbolism on the cover.

*grabby hands* Now, please?

  1. Wow what rock have I been living under?! I guess this is why I need to start going to BEA again. I had no idea Kate Elliott was doing a YA book! Also I will literally read anything remotely related to the Count of Monte Cristo, but add in Little Women and Greco-Roman Egypt? I’m so in. I have no idea what this mashup will look like but I have no doubt it’s going to be awesome!

I haven’t heard of this (or the author). I hope it’s all that you are pre-squeeing for and more! & that you get early – because June is soooo far away.
